British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw will be meeting Argentine Foreign Affaire Minister Rafael Bielsa next September in New York during the United Nations General Assembly, reports this Wednesday the Buenos Aires press.

Apparently it was the Foreign Office which requested the meeting that was "immediately" approved by Argentina and is scheduled for the end of September when both officials will coincide for two days in New York.

In Argentina the event is seeing as an opportunity to set on track some pending issues of the bilateral agenda.

According to the Argentine press a few months ago Foreign Secretary Straw sent a letter to Mr. Bielsa regarding several issues of common interest among which the freezing of charter flights to the Falkland Islands from Punta Arenas.

The Buenos Aires press recalls that when the canceling of authorization for charter flights was imposed towards the end of last year, Mr. Bielsa contacted the Foreign Office saying he was willing to fly to London immediately to personally explain the Argentine position.

However the reply was that Mr. Straw's agenda was too full.
