For the 17th year the Falklands Islands Government had stands at both the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences that were held over the past two weeks in the United Kingdom.

The Falkland's stand attracted many visitors among the Parliamentarians, delegates, international visitors and fellow exhibitors as Councillor Stephen Luxton explained, "It's been fairly successful, there's been a lot of people through the stand, a lot of members of the public and quite a few MPs and so on."

Those who had visited the stand in previous years or, indeed, had visited the Islands, were brought up to date by the Falklands' delegation which, along with Mr Luxton was made up of Councillor Norma Edwards and FIG Representative in London Sukey Cameron.

Those visitors who had not had a connection with the Islands previously were handed information and had their queries answered. Sukey Cameron said, "The free bookmarks, badges, pencils and pads proved very popular ? a number were taken by Mrs. Blair for use at No.10."

The Conservative Party Conference finished Friday and Councillor Luxton will return to the Islands on Wednesday, while Councillor Edwards will be back the following Monday. (PN)
