Chile dairy exports during the first eight months of this year reached 50 million US dollars, 55% increase over the same period last year, according to Carlos Furche from Chile's Agriculture Studies and Policies Office.
The main items exported during the period include condensed milk, 20 million US dollars; cheese 19 million and milk powder, 6 million US dollars.
"It's really encouraging the sustained growth rate during the last few years of cheese and condensed milk exports, virtually doubling volume and value", stressed Mr. Furche.
Chile dairy products main markets are Mexico, 65%; Cuba 9%; Costa Rica 7%; Peru 5%; United States 4%; Venezuela 3%; Ecuador 2%; Bolivia 2%.
