Beginning this Wednesday Lan Chile's domestic fares will increase 7%, the second time in the last three months reports La Prensa Austral from Punta Arenas.
Increasing fuel costs, as happened last August 15 was the main reason for the increase.
In a recent visit to Punta Arenas, Lan Chile's CEO Pedro Pablo Errazuriz confirmed the 7% rise although pointing out it was below the surge of international fuel prices.
According to the new rates, return ticket to Santiago from Punta Arenas, economic class including boarding tax, will now cost 131,242 Chilean pesos (121,178); the second rate which is an open ticket, 187,242 Chilean pesos (177,178).
Punta Arenas/Puerto Montt return ticket 110,242 (103,178) Chilean pesos.
Punta Arenas/Temuco return ticket 134,584 (133,584) Chilean pesos.
This week the US dollar was selling in Santiago below 600 Chilean pesos.
