Israeli President Moshe Katzav has postponed a planned trip to Argentina in late November reported a spokesman for the president's office.

President Katzav wants to "give content to the visit," which would be "difficult at the moment, given the uncertainty" in the Middle East, the official said, referring to the recent death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and other international developments.

President Katzav had planned to meet with his Argentine counterpart, Nestor Kirchner, other government officials and members of the South American largest Jewish community.

The Israeli president will most likely reschedule his trip for some time in the austral summer, though no exact dates have been mentioned
