Because of the strict security measures for this week's Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit to be held in Santiago, Lan Chile warns passengers that check in time both for domestic and international flights has been advanced to avoid potential difficulties or delays reaching the airport.

In an official release the Chilean flag carrier indicates that between November 18 and 21, all domestic passengers must be in Santiago's airport two hours before departure time and international passengers, three hours before.

Lan Chile regrets the inconveniences and has a 24 hours phone number, 600 5262000, for any further questions on the matter.

Starting this Monday and during the APEC summit air security over Santiago and in airports is under the sole control of the Chilean Air Force which has established banned and limited activity areas.

Activities related to pilot training, parachuting, gliding or air sports are strictly forbidden, and private air clubs are requested to check on recently contracted staff and "tighten security measures both inside and outside the club's grounds".
