A security guard was killed and a policeman injured following bomb blasts against several bank branches in downtown Buenos Aires, mid morning Wednesday.
Police reported that the security guard died in hospital of injuries received when a bomb exploded at a Citibank branch.
Another bomb blast in a second Citibank branch slightly injured a policeman, and a third explosive in a Galicia bank branch did not cause much destruction.
All explosions, which were concentrated at mid morning shattering windows and damaging banks' facades, generated panic among customers and adjoining streets.
According to the Police several other devices were deactivated and later detonated by a special fire and explosives squad.
Bombs apparently were home made and targeting banks in congested areas of the city. No group so far has claimed responsibility.
Last August similar incidents with explosives occurred in coincidence with IMF Director General Rodrigo de Rato's visit to Argentina.
Buenos Aires City Mayor Anibal Ibarra who was hosting Chinese president Hu Jintao's in his last day in the city condemned the attacks.
