Three Labour MP's and a Welsh National Assembly Member arrived in the Islands yesterday afternoon. They are accompanied on their week-long visit by London FIGO rep Sukey Cameron.
Vera Baird, who is the MP for Redcar entered the House of Commons in 2001 replacing Mo Mowlam. Dari Taylor, MP for Stockton South was elected MP for Tyneside in 1997 and has a majority of nine thousand and eighty six. She was a member of the House of Commons Select Committee on Defence for four years.
Alan Campbell has represented the Tynemouth Constituency since 1997 and has expressed a particular interest in education and constitutional reform. He's described as "every inch the New Labour man".
The fourth visitor is Alun Cairns who was elected to the Welsh National Assembly as AM for the South West in 1999. He's the Conservative Economic and Transport Spokesman. His activities in the Conservative Party have been wide-ranging, since he joined the Swansea West Association in 1987 at the age of seventeen. He's been dubbed "one of the sharpest brains in the assembly" and "a terrier, snapping at the heels of the executive."
