Korean Airlines and the Lan group signed this week in Santiago an integration commercial agreement to better develop the growing Latinamerica-Korea air market.

This will enable Korean Airlines passengers to make easier connections to the rest of Latinamerica with the help of Lan's network of affiliate companies in the region.

Lan passengers will have similar advantages when flying to Korea and domestic routes in the Asian country. A shared code system is scheduled to become effective in the first half of 2005.

Additional benefits include an only documentation from the beginning to the end of the trip, VIP lounges and joint accumulation of miles and frequent flyer benefits.

The agreement was signed by Korean Airlines CEO Jong Hee Lee and Lan Chile's CEO Ignacio Cueto with the participation of the two companies boards chairmen, Yang Ho Cho and Enrique Cueto.

"For business travellers and tourist passengers the agreement will mean great advantages at the moment of booking and flying", said Mr. Yang Ho Cho.

Mr. Cueto highlighted that the Korean Airlines-Lan integration will provide customers with excellent domestic connections "as well as stimulating the Korea/Chile trade agreement plus promoting tourism, business and cooperation between Latinamerica and Korea".
