MIKE SUMMERS and Ian Hansen have both congratulated the Falklands' public on its generosity following the devastating tsunami in Asia.
Councillor Hansen commented, "This proves yet again that the contribution we make per capita compares more than favourably with other countries."
Councillor Summers, who lived in Thailand for a time a number of years ago said he is confident the people of that country will, "...get through it because of the type of people they are, but they will require assistance from the world community."
However he said he had more concern about the people of the Maldives and Sri Lanka. He said, "It's none of my business who the money goes to from here, it's a community project and the community will decide.
"But I do hope that if there is an option to chose then folks will think about the people in the Maldives, in particular whose complete islands have been destroyed in the same way that Grenada was almost completely destroyed earlier in the year."(PN)
