The testimony from a witness who was present when three young foreign tourists tore down an Argentine flag and dumped it in a dustbin outside a pub in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, last January 5 will be included in the plaintiffs case.
Malvinas veterans attorney Jorge Estrada wants to make sure the three accused, a Briton, an Australian and a South African, are punished and the Court repeals an appeal from the defence arguing the nullity of the charges.
Malvinas veterans informed the Ushuaia press they had added to the original case "the testimony of a witness who was present when the flag was torn down from the mast next to the "Galway" pub".
They added that there's "the chance of a second witness who lives in Buenos Aires and happened to be in Ushuaia at the moment of the incident".
"We're presenting further evidence to the case against David Fleming (UK), Benjamin Sargent (Aus) and Darren Redden (SA)", said the Veterans.
The three young foreigners remain in Ushuaia and had to hand in their passports until the trial is over.
Malvinas veterans also described as "an unworthy act" the decision from a local attorney to accept the defence of Australian tourist Benjamin Sargent.
In a short release the veterans express their deepest sorrow and indignity towards Felix Santamaria, "an Argentine attorney, Ushuaia resident, who will be defending one of the accused of affronting our national flag with the only purpose of making a few dollars". "We can but only disapprove such an action which seems to show that the nationalistic feeling has a price". "A dime in the bag weighs more than the flag in the heart" blasted Carlos Bonetti, president of Malvinas veterans Tierra del Fuego chapter.
