Argentine Foreign Affairs minister Rafael Bielsa has been invited to the Senate next Tuesday to inform on Malvinas policy and the Kirchner administration's (late) reaction to the inclusion of South Atlantic islands in the European Union constitution.
Mr. Bielsa is expected to report on the latest "Malvinas" incident, explain the "irresponsibility" with which the issue was addressed and finally work out in the Senate a "common position" on which to follow the dispute.
According to Buenos Aires press Senate president Miguel Angel Pichetto and Senator Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner accepted to convene Mr. Bielsa arguing that fellow Senators were "pre judging" and that the Foreign Affairs minister "should have a chance to explain the situation".
Apparently Socialist Senator Ruben Giustiniani was one of the main sponsors of the hearing since a recent television debate with Mr. Bielsa ended with acrimonious remarks.
Senator Giustiniani mentioned the fact that Spanish Foreign Affairs minister Miguel Morantinos had told him, that contrary to Mr. Bielsa's version, there had been no official complain from Argentina regarding the EU constitution inclusion of the disputed Malvinas and South Atlantic islands claimed by Argentina.
