A Uruguayan soldier who was a member of the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) died in an accident in the African nation, the Army said Sunday in Montevideo.
The dead soldier was identified as Corporal Trinquer Daniel Trindade, who was sent to Congo in May as part of a troop rotation.
The soldier, 25, who was father of one child, died Saturday from severe injuries suffered when he was hit by a military truck.
Trindade belonged to a battalion of 200 MONUC soldiers deployed in the Kelemie area. Uruguay has some 1,600 troops from the three services, with MONUC.
