A Uruguayan flagged trawler was caught allegedly poaching in Argentine waters according to an official report from the Argentine Navy.

The incident which occurred last Thursday involved the "Viking Sky" with a crew of 18 which was detected by the corvette ARA "Guerrico" fishing 197 miles south east of Carmen de Pagatones in the Argentine EEZ.

"Viking Sky" was boarded by a team from the Argentine Navy vessel which found evidence of illegal fishing.

As is normal procedure the trawler was escorted to the nearest port, San Julián where the Argentine authorities will begin legal actions against the owners and captain of the vessel.

Apparently "Viking Sky" should have reached San Julian late Sunday night.
