At the opening of business this morning, Her Honour the Acting Governor Harriet Hall, signed a Proclamation dissolving the Legislative Council and fixing 17th November as the date of the General Election.

She fixed 10.30am on 22nd November for the beginning of the next session of the Legislative Council. The Acting Governor also signed Writs of Election for both the Camp and the Stanley Constituencies.

These have been delivered to the Deputy Returning Officer, John Christopher Rowland who, as required by law, and acting by the authority of and in the name of and on behalf of the Returning Officer, Christopher John Simpkins, has issued Notices of Election for the two Constituencies.

These provide that nomination papers can be obtained between 10th October and 27th October (Mondays to Fridays) from his office at the Town Hall. The last day for delivery of completed nomination papers to him will be 27th October 2005.

At the General Election there will be five persons to be elected in respect of the Stanley Constituency and three persons to be elected in respect of the Camp Constituency
