Latinamerica and the Caribbean trade surplus with the United States climbed 5% to a new record last October, reported the US Commerce Department.
The monthly record was 9.8 billion US dollars with an accumulated surplus of 83.4 billion US dollars compared to the 67.7 billion of the 2004 ten first months.
Leaving aside Venezuela, Mexico led the pack with 4,8 billion in October and 41.3 billion in January/October 2005 compared to 37,8 billion in the same 2004 period.
Brazil's surplus with the US reached 963 million US dollars last October totalling 7.8 billion in the months compared to 5.6 billion a year ago.
Chile jumped from 112 million in September to 166 million in October, and 985 million in the ten months of 2005 compared to 813 million in the same period of 2004.
Venezuela which is the US fourth supplier of oil had an October surplus of 2.4 billion US dollars, down from 2.65 in September. However the ten months of 2005, 23.2 billion are well ahead of the 16.7 billion of the same period in 2004.
