An Argentine court ruled that a group of Malvinas war veterans, all belonging to the conscripts class 1962 have the right to collect retroactively from April 2, 1982, pensions and compensations which had since been denied, reported the Buenos Aires press.

The Contentious Administrative Court recognized the veterans right to "perceive benefits outlined in Law 22.674" which extends an "extraordinary subsidy to people who suffered a disability or permanent psycho-physical diminution as a consequence of the recent conflict with the United Kingdom".

In the ruling two of the magistrates recall that the bill extends the "benefits to the next of kin of the deceased". They also recognized the former soldiers' right to perceive the compensation contemplated in Article 78, clause 3 of Law 19.101 and later modifications plus credits generated in the five years before the presentation of the administrative claim or demand.

Article 78 establishes a monthly payment to "personnel and conscripts who as a consequence of acts of service have diminished conditions for the return to ordinary life". For conscripts the amount will be equivalent to "the whole monthly payment plus supplements corresponding to the lowest rank of petty officers with two years of service"

No details were given as to how many veterans the ruling could benefit or the funds involved.
