Mexico's government owned oil consortium Pemex reported record exports of crude, volume and value, during January. Exports totalled 3.18 billion US dollars compared to 1.39 billion in January 2005.
This represents a daily average overseas shipment of 2.05 million barrels during January, the highest monthly export ever.
According to Pemex, petroleum exports rose 13% with an average market price for Mexico's three grades of oil of 50 US dollars per barrel.
Shipments included an average 1.64 million bpd of heavy Maya crude, which comprised 80% of sales with revenues totalling 2.42 billion US dollars.
Exports of light Istmo crude rose to 220 million US dollars with an average volume of 124.000 bpd and extra light Olmeca crude averaged 281.000 bpd valued at 539 million.
Of the total volume of petroleum exported, 1.79 million bpd, 87%, went to the Americas; 191.000 bpd to Europe and 63.000 to East Asia.
Mexico is United States number two supplier of oil behind Canada.
