The crisis between Uruguay and Argentina seems to be heading to a solution as people from both nations have great expectations over the meeting their presidents will hold next Wednesday.

Talks are possible "because the Argentines unconditionally removed their blockades" of major international bridges connecting the two countries, Uruguayan Foreign Affairs Minister Reinaldo Gargano asserted Friday.

Argentines had set up roadblocks, saying the pulp mills being built in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, will heavily pollute the Uruguay River.

However, Montevideo authorities denied that accusation and produced documents on the use of state-of-the art technology in the construction of those factories, conforming to the European Union 2007 parameters.

Sources of the Uruguayan government said Tabare Vazquez and Nestor Kichner will discuss the creation of a commission to gather systematic information on environment and the functioning of those plants in Uruguay.

Ratifying his nation's will for rapprochement with Buenos Aires, Reinaldo Gargano said he will accompany Argentine Ambassador to Montevideo Hernan Patiño Meyer to an activity to recall the sore years of the dictatorship in the 1970s.

The meeting will be held in the Uruguayan Anchorena presidential farm, as announced by the presidents from both states on March 13.
