United States president George W. Bush support dropped to a new low with only six months to mid term elections when the ruling Republican party will be fighting to retain control in Congress.
President Bush's popularity which at the beginning of 2006 stood at 43% has plummeted to 34% according to the latest public opinion poll from USA Today/Gallup and published Monday in the US press.
The lowest approval marks for Mr Bush were reported in the economy, 34%; energy policy 22%; foreign policy, 33%, and only 26% approved of the president's handling of the controversial migratory issue.
The poll interviewed 1.011 adults, with a plus/minus 3 points error and showed the Democrats leading the Republicans by 54% to 39% among registered voters.
Sarah Feinberg spokesperson for the Democrats' mid term electoral campaign is quoted by USA Today saying that voters associate President Bush's problems to his fellow Republicans.
However Carl Forti, spokesperson for the Republicans Lower House electoral campaign considered the alleged link "irrelevant" since President Bush will not be figuring in the different tickets.
