On the final phase of her six and a half month South Atlantic Patrol Task deployment HMS Liverpool spent a long weekend in Montevideo, Uruguay before heading north.

Since March she has patrolled all around the Falkland Islands, visiting numerous settlements, including those at San Carlos, North Arm, Fox Bay, Speedwell Island and Saunders Island.

During that period she commemorated the loss of HM Ships Sheffield, Coventry, Antelope, Ardent and MV Atlantic Conveyor as well as the Landings in San Carlos Water, all events pertaining to the 1982 South Atlantic conflict.

HMS Liverpool also sailed east, into the Antarctic Convergence Zone, to South Georgia, and north to Rio de Janeiro for a mid-deployment stand off.

The Commander British Forces, Commodore Moncreiff Royal Navy saw HMS Liverpool off from the jetty at East Cove Military Port, as she sailed for Montevideo.

This final phase of the deployment comprises a series of defense diplomacy visits to other South American ports as well as exercises with the Brazilian Navy, before the final passage back to Portsmouth.

HMS Chatham currently off the coast of West Africa has taken over as the South Atlantic Patrol for the next six months.
