The tragic toll of Chile's rain and wind storms keeps growing and has reached 23 people dead plus thousands forced out of their homes and sheltered in government buildings.
According to the latest reports from the Chilean Emergency Office, 157.000 have been left completely isolated following the collapse and disappearance of a bridge which was swept away by an over flown river in the province of Arauco.
Army engineers are attempting to mount a provisional 36 metres long bridge which should be open for light traffic Monday.
In Southern Chile many residents are complaining about the delay of Public Works equipment in reopening routes which have been partially washed away or blocked by felled trees and electricity poles. Forestry companies are helping with their equipment to clear roads.
