Uruguay will become an open destination for Chinese tourists following a meeting this week between Uruguayan president Tabare Vazquez and the Chinese Ambassador in Montevideo, Wang Xiaoyuan, reports Beijing's People's Daily.
The official media from the Chinese Communist Party underlined that during the coming visit to Uruguay of Wu Bangguo, president of the National Popular Assembly, three bilateral cooperation agreements will be signed.
Ambassador Wan is quoted saying that bilateral relations and cooperation between China and Uruguay have continued to evolve positively at political, economic and commercial levels.
"There's great potential for further bilateral development", added ambassador Wan who pointed out the success of the standing joint trade committee in promoting closer ties between both countries.
The tourism agreement means Uruguay is included in the Tourism Authorized Destination Statute enabling Chinese tourists to travel to Uruguay.
