Over 160 tourism journalists and photographers belonging to United States and Canada's main media will be touring Chilean Patagonia beginning October 23.

The touring event will take place following the 51 Annual Convention of the Society of American Travel Writers, SATW, which is taking place in Santiago de Chile.

"This an excellent opportunity to promote our Patagonia tourist attractions in such top rate markets as the US and Canada" plus helping to position Chile as "Latin-American's main centre for this kind of events", said Pablo Moll General Manager of Chile's Tourist Promotion Corporation.

Christian Miranda head of Magallanes Region Tourism Office said that the Patagonia stand in the Santiago SATW tourism mart is distributing literature about the region and all the registered journalists and photographers at the convention have been supplied with the recently published guide of Cape Horn and Magallanes.

Apparently National Geographic's "Adventure" magazine dedicated one of its last editions to the Torres del Paine Park including the front page, and a second article on the region's insular territory will be out any moment.

"We're really making a splash at international level and now we must introduce Cape Horn issue, which should be equally attractive with all its uniqueness", added Miranda.

The post convention tours of Patagonia include visits to the Puyuhuapi Lodge and Span; San Rafael Laguna; South Patagonia in the Remota Hotel; Eco Camp in Torres del Paine plus cruises along the Magellan fiords and Cape Horn in the Via and Mare Australis and the Antarctic Dream.

SATW, which is currently holding its convention in Santiago's Grand Hyatt is a professional association which every year meets in a different place and promotes responsible journalism, solid information as well as supporting conservation and sustainability of tourist resources all over the world.
