Five out of ten Chileans feel globalization is positive for the country, but two in three believe it only benefits the rich.
This is one of the main conclusions of the latest Gallup public opinion poll which shows that 35% of Latin-Americans considers globalization as "something positive" for their countries, well below the Africans 71% but above the more skeptical 28% of Western Europeans and 26% of US citizens.
Similarly to what happens at world level, there's a majority average consensus (58%) among Latin-Americans that globalization benefits the rich and not the poor.
This is particularly strong in Panama, 85%, followed by Chile and Mexico 68%.
As to foreign investment, 56% consider it positive and necessary; 33% negative and 11% does not know or won't answer.
The Gallup survey involved 58.000 people in 64 countries and was done between July and September.
