When Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue arrived at Santiago de Chile's international airport last Wednesday, she was met by film producer Alexander Dahm, who lives in Mexico with his wife and son.
The singer will not be performing on this particular visit. "I am in Chile for pleasure, to get to know the country and to visit my friend," Minogue was quoted as saying. "I will start with Viña del Mar and will stay in the house of my Chilean friend". Besides producing feature films, Dahm also films commercials. It was during the filming of an advert for a clothing range that the pair met in Acapulco last January. Dahm's next project will be a commercial for Italian jewellery firm Bulgari, a brand that was worn by Minogue during her last tour. It is not yet known whether the singer is to take part in the commercial, which is to be filmed in a vineyard in Colchagua. Following Kylie's surprise appearance with Dahm in Chile, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive about a possible relationship between the two. Still, various sources, including Dahm's pregnant wife, say that their relationship is platonic. "Alexander and Kylie have struck up a friendship," Laura Dahm was quoted as saying. "But it's ridiculous to think there is some sort of affair going on." Following Minogue's arrival in Santiago, she and Dahm travelled to the seaside resort of Zapallar, in Region V. Several passers-by who observed the couple enjoying seafood and pisco sours said that their gestures were "very intimate". When the pair went to a local restaurant for their evening meal, their idyllic retreat was rudely interrupted, as the establishment refused to serve them a meal. Despite Dahm's repeated protests that his companion was a famous pop star, the restaurant's owner said that the kitchen was closed, and a private function was taking place. The two then proceeded to a different restaurant, where they enjoyed lamb and seafood. According to Sergio Rojas, who attended their table, the pair was "very friendly," and Minogue spoke a few words of Spanish. Minogue, who recently overcame a battle with breast cancer, was dating French actor Olivier Martinez until February this year, when Martinez ended the relationship after rumours that he was cheating on the singer were proved true.
