Full article

Brazil's PETROBRAS oil company was the first company to acquire the bid sheet for hydrocarbon exploration contracts in areas of the Uruguayan continental platform.

Local press commented the announcement responds to efforts by the National Administration of Oil, Alcohol, and Portland (ANCAP) to get the leading world oil companies interested in potential gas and oilfields in deep Uruguayan waters. ANCAP president Raul Sendic noted PETROBRAS' decision is a clear sign of interest in some of the 11 blocs put out to tender through the so called Uruguay Round, held last December in Montevideo to inform on the Uruguayan potentialities. Sendic informed that at least four world oil companies have confirmed their interest in the offer, Venezuela's PDVSA among them. (PLatina)
