Scarborough Council welcomed a special international guest, Claudette Anderson-Prior, who works for the Falkland Islands' Government as Head of the Legislature Department and has spent the past few days work shadowing with the council, reports the Scarborough Evening News.
The local daily says Claudette chose to visit Scarborough because the capital of the Falklands, Stanley, is twinned with Whitby. Claudette attended various committee meetings and met Scarborough mayor, Councillor Eileen Vickers. The local newspaper says Claudette's trip focused on the democratic processes of the council, looking at councillor and officer relationships, member role definitions and the committee structure and systems. Ms Anderson-Prior is also the Honorary Secretary to the Falkland Islands branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and in 2002 was awarded an MBE for Public Services to the Falkland Islands, ends Scarborough Evening News report by James Hanley released Monday February 16th.
