Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet, pro tempore president of the Union of South American Nations, Unasur, chaired this morning’s closed doors meeting or South American leaders with Barrack Obama.
The meeting took place in the sidelines of the Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port Spain, Trinidad Tobago.
At the head of the U shaped table sat Ms. Bachelet, Obama and Argentina’s Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
To the right of Ms. Bachelet sat Colombia’s Alvaro Uribe; Uruguay’s Tabare Vazquez; Bolivia’s Evo Morales, Peru’s Alan García and others, while to the left of Mr. Obama and Mrs. Kirchner, Brazil’s Lula da Silva; Ecuador’s Rafael Correa; Paraguay’s Fernando Lugo and Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, according to press reports from Argentine sources.
Behind each president sat their Foreign Affairs ministers, i.e. Hillary Clinton; Brazil’s Celso Amorim, Argentina’s Jorge Taiana.
