For the sake of MERCOSUR's future, let's hope the Brazilian Senate stands firm and rejects Venezuela's incorporation into the MERCOSUR as a full member state. MERCOSUR already has a credibility deficit. Venezuelan membership would effectively ensure MERCOSUR's irrelevancy as an economic integration project.

Letting Chavez into Mercosur is like inviting a vampire into your house. He can not hurt you from the outside but if you invite him in he will never leave and cause you pain and suffereing.
