Disclaimer & comment rulesMr Winterton has certainly not done anything of importance for the Falklands during his considerable tenure. There has been no government pressure to develop an oil province around the islands and worse still there was no pressure put on the last oil major who walked away following exploratory drilling to concentrate on more profitable ventures elsewhere. Quite shameful! Could one imagine, say, the Chinese government taking this kind of approach?

The Falkland Islands cricket team had to call off their tour of Chile thanks to Argentine interference
