Look at the other side of the coin. When the Soviets put their military in Cuba, even after hard evidence shown by Kennedy that the nukes were taken out of Cuba, many in the US bitched like crazy bitches about Soviet presence in Cuba http://tinyurl.com/m8hp3w. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If Colombia and Venezuela decide for whatever reason that it is time for the fireworks to go off, would the US remain silent in the shooting war?
