    Is this not genocide? From Article 2c of the UN Genocide Convention, genocide includes, among other things:

    “Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.”

    That is, not actively killing people (Article 2a), but inflicting conditions on the group simply CALCULATED to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.

    Isn't this precisely what the US embargo is doing? If these were Chinese sanctions on Tibet, Amnesty would most certainly be calling it genocide. Is there a double standard at work here?
