Chilean authorities have just launched a new 4 million US dollars advertising campaign to attract more Brazilians to visit Chile. Funded by Tourism Chile and the National Economic Development Agency (CORFO), the promotion aims to increase the number of Brazilian tourists visiting Chile by 30%.
Included in the campaign are travel articles written by Brazilian journalists working in Chile. Billboards showing some of Chile’s natural beauty spots will also be placed in public places around Brazilian cities.
The campaign launched last month in Brasilia and will also run in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. A similar promotion in 2008 increased Brazilian visitors’ numbers by 38%. Organizers are hoping to achieve more success this time, targeting package holiday sales in particular.
This promotion comes at a time of growing cooperation between the two countries with Brazil recently becoming Chile’s third largest trading partner.
