Disclaimer & comment rulesYes, April 2 is a day to remember a sad event, but it is also a day for optimism!
Mar 30th, 2010 - 11:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I will keep the phrase it is worth while fighting for what belongs to us, and no matter how powerful the adversary is, if on our side is the truth, reason and justice.
Yes Jorge, April 2 is a day of sadness for all, remembering and commemorating all those who lost ther lives for a cause. It is a day of reflection, the reason for looking optimistically into the future and that it will never happen again.
Mar 31st, 2010 - 05:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0Instead of believing to fight for something that belongs to you, how about defending your beliefs, way of life and integrity? How about recognising and coexisting with your fellow human beings?

Mar 31st, 2010 - 10:08 am - Link - Report abuse 0The most important word in your post above is 'IF' - the fact of the matter is that, in reference to the Falkland Islands, truth, reason and justice are NOT on your side and only a fool would say that they are.
I heard Mrs. Kirchner speaking on Argentine TV and she did say very clearly that the Islanders should in no way fear about their welfare or way of life. She recognised that they have been in the Falklands for generations implying that they have full rights to their way of life. The issues are becoming clearer all the time. Argentina woud be prepared to recognise full rights to the Islanders on their land but wants to contest the exploitation of resources far beyond those borders as is happening with oil resources. I am all for negotiations as Argentina now seems to be offering full guarantees to the Islandres. . I am surprised that Mercopress seems to have missed out on that part of the Argentine President´s speech.

There is nothing to negotiate Same,
Mar 31st, 2010 - 12:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If Argentina recognised the Islanders' rights enshrined in international law she would be forced to drop her claim.
You can read what you want into the Argentine recognition of the Islanders' way of life - it's even included in that odious provision in the latest constitution - but it is completely meaningless.
Progress is progress and it is significant that Argentina begins to spell out what a possible solution to the South Atlantic soveignity conflict would look like. I have the impression that Argentina is into a development curve not unlike Brazil. It has had an important GDP growth over the last few years so that it would be a superficial reading to think that it is engaging in the Falklands issue because of a supposed crisis at home. The most reasonable response for UK and the Islanders would be to negotiate. To pretend there is no problem is to hide ones head in the sand.
Mar 31st, 2010 - 12:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0There is a problem but it is Argentinas problem. The Falklanders and the UK have no problem with the status of the Falkland Islands regardless of all the tiresome yapping coming from Kirchner.
Mar 31st, 2010 - 12:46 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Same, the Argentine position has not changed in years. What is being said now is nothing new. The way of life thing is been in the Argentine constitution since 1994. If anyone has their heads in the sand it is Argentina who refuse to recognise the Falkland Islanders' right to self determination.
Mar 31st, 2010 - 01:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What is there to negotiate?
Same The most reasonable response for UK and the Islanders would be to negotiate. To pretend there is no problem is to hide ones head in the sand.
Mar 31st, 2010 - 01:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Argenitina would never negotiate with the Islanders because to do so would be to recognise their rights to Self Determination. Argentina only wants to negotiate with the UK, and the UK can't negotiate for the Islanders without their permission as they are a self governing territory and to do so would be illegal under UK law.
Same - just because Argentina claims the Falklands doesn't make that claim legitimate. Given that it is a spurious claim, why should the UK and the FIG give into it? Simply saying, by Argentina, that the Falklands are Argentine doesn't make it a factual statement. Their claim has no validity and therefore there is nothing to discuss. It would be like you being forced to sit down and give away your house just because I laid claim to it - even though my claim had no legitimacy. Would you think it fair if you were forced to surrender your house to me just because I said it was mine? Would you feel it OK if, whilst taking your house, people said - but he will still allow you to live in it. This would be the position you would be putting the Falkland Islanders. Argentina has ZERO claim to the Falklands - remember also that Argentina is a country that was built upon land forcefully taken from its indigenous population. Look up the Conquest of the Desert. Argentina is trying to force a colonial situation upon the Islands and that is immoral.

Apr 01st, 2010 - 12:32 am - Link - Report abuse 0- I will try, but don't get confused, I learnt those insults from the british and americans.
To say there is no dispute between UK, FIG and Argentina about sovereignity in the South Atlantic is a denial of history and reality. The so called right to self determination by FIG in no way implies laying claim to whatever resource comes to mind. International law recognises the problem and that is the sense of UN resolutions calling for a negotiated solution. Insulting one another gets nowhere. The UK should also listen to English speaking people in Argentina, the majority British, who want a reasonable solution.
Apr 01st, 2010 - 01:28 am - Link - Report abuse 0Same, self determination for the Falkland Islanders is not a so called right. It is clearly and unambiguously enshrined in international law, the UN Charter and several UN Security Council and General Assembly Resolutions - some of them specifically referring to the Falkland Islands. The Resolutions which call upon the UK and Argentina to resolve their differences regarding sovereignty ALL reference the right to self determination. Argentina is simply ignoring her responsibility to recognise that right.
Apr 01st, 2010 - 09:22 am - Link - Report abuse 0Argentina's long-standing position is that it will only negotiate the transfer of sovereignty. How can that be reasonable? The most reasonable solution would be for Argentina to drop her irredentist claim. And why should the UK listen to English-speaking Argentines any more than German-speaking, Italian-speaking or Spanish-speaking Argentines? If you want this problem to go away then why not lobby your government to understand its international obligations and recognise the Islanders rights?
Jorge, the British national anthem is not Rule Britannia. Please get your facts right.

As for invading other countries - Argentina has wared with most of it's neighbours at one put or the other in it's short history so I fail to see how you can claim any high ground there.
Plus you invaded another country in 1982.

How could you compare that to the genocide of Roca????
Roca killed less than 100000 people while you killed millions around the world and still doing it in Afghanistan and in Iran any time soon?
Wait!!!!!.......... I know this is not a matter of quantities, one person is as important as 100000, but how could you say that your genocide wasn't more unpleasant?!?!?! That's ridiculous, incorrect and disrespectful with the history of the world!.

Oh, what the dictatorship did is none of our business? Well the dictatorship invaded the Falklands so perhaps it is. Also you don't really have a leg to stand on when it comes to the treatment of others. Britain does not have a stellar record, but then nor do you. Thing that you will understand quickly if UK continues in the current path to collapse.
Because UK is in the stage of Argentina 1989 I mean before the collapse.
If the collapse happen knowing UK you will have riots in the streets and people killing each other for a piece of bread.

Because ignorance mixed with arrogance is bad cocktail to make a huge mistake.
Especially with your macho man attitude expressed like “who won the Falklands War?”
You didn’t won a war just a battle that’s all the score is still 2 Argies 1 Brits. Like in football UK is always begin Argentina.
Remembers always this, a war against Argentina would not be a picnic or free of consequences for UK and the Islanders you can loose. Or even worse the conflict can escalate in the region with the intervention of countries like Venezuela hungry for a show up of its military power.

Will not harm, She/He will not loose any right, none here has power to take any action or decision pro or against Her/Him (sorry but I am not sure about your gender) or use what she/he says as a proof of anything.
This is very silly grow up fellows what are you afraid of?
Anyway for those like me that see that insulting each other will not contribute to nothing positive I will try to show you the normal Argentina that I see every day here in Buenos Aires (Sorry but is where I live now what can I do?)
Argentines are tolerant people and a multicultural society with a lot interest in others cultures, music, dance sports, travelling, friendship and all these kind of things that make life a wonderful thing.
Religion is no a issue in Argentina you can profess freely whatever you like and in fact Argentinean really don’t pay to much attention to that. Many express themselves as a catholic but I really doubt that they have been more than 2 times in a church in their entire life is more to have something to believe.
As the majority of Argentinean around 97% (according with statistics) are descendents of someone that came here from another country the majority from Europe and more recently from neighboring countries, diversity is part of the landscape.
The say that Argentineans are a monolithic Spanish culture is another lie. Argentina has influence from several countries and you can appreciate that in its architecture and its cuisine. Older part seem a Spanish period domination, then French/Italian (palace and building) British bridges and railways system with stations looking like French. The food is amazing from all over the world. Germans also are a big community and Celts. A lot of Chilean, Uruguayans, Bolivians, Brazilians and Paraguayan live in Argentina too.
So this is the Argentina I see every day in my case Buenos Aires with the same problems that have any huge city like Buenos Aires in any part of the world. But is far more secure than New York and London you can walk 4 am for the streets in the center without problem.

Apr 03rd, 2010 - 03:17 pm - Link - Report abuse 0After all these years, what most us feel is such a great sadness, it's not easy to assimilate yet what happened in 1982, that day changed for good the destiny of argentina and the islands's.
It's not easy to recognize that if the war woulden't have happened, my country woulden't have recovered the democracy so soon, and the islands wouden't be so prosperous like they are now.
That repugnant dictatorship played in such a corrupter and perverse way with the wish of recovering the malvinas-falklands, that idea has allways been in the minds of most argentines, and now in the same perverse and corrupter way, the british press is shaking the ghost of a new invation by argentina, anyway i think that the islanders are not going to be so idiot and ignorant to beleive that.
The balance of all these years has many dark and clear sides, our country is totally diferent than it was in 1982, we have many debts with our people, but the democracy is the only one way to govern and live, i am sure that before i die, we will find a fair solution for to the coflict, i'm 28 years old, i'm young, i have a lot to live yet, and maybe i see changes between both sides to improve our situation.
..........If you treat your own people like you did during the dictatorship, then what chances are there of you treating anyone else fairly.........
Apr 04th, 2010 - 05:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0- We don't have a dictatorship anymore and I bet my life we won't have in future!!!!!!!!
......Jorge youve got more faces than plastic face! Estas falso, muy falso......
- You have to brush up your spanish my friend.
.......Nowhere on this earth did Britain ever commit genocide on a people...by contrast your dictators made sure that members of my family got one way plane tickets into Dique san roque! Just make sure you and I never meet because as sure as eggs are eggs, I'll give you the third eye treatment you deserve......

.......Oh dear, touched a nerve have we. Look to your own history you silly boy. You do make me laugh - not with you of course, but at you.....
- Would you please provide a youtube link so that I can see it????
You make me laugh! If I make you laugh, then that is good, laughing is good.
.......Look at back at your dear friend Jorge's posts and then you will have an understanding as to why he gets the responses he does. They are made in kind and then only after having tried to reason with him for months. He gets what he deserves.........
- Are you trying to justificate your ignorance about Argentina, you little boy????
......No your actually telling me what I believe, your arrogance truely knows no bonds. Just to clarify YES I truely believe you invaded British sovereign territory in 1982..........
- Ignorant!

Apr 04th, 2010 - 05:12 am - Link - Report abuse 0- LOL Truth hurts you. You invented Al-Qaeda, you deal with it now.
Again, LOL.
Oh I forgot, Globetrotter said Estas falso, muy falso.
Apr 04th, 2010 - 05:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0Is it too difficult for english speaking people to translate the verb to be?????
Yeah I know it is also difficult for us to say I'm 27 years old and not I have 27 years old. That verb to be which has two meanings in spanish (ser ó estar) is a big problem. The use you made of it has showed me you are not an argentinean as you wanted to make me believe the other day saying I am your countryman.
Very predictable you know?!?!?! Verb to be always gives yourself away, two meanings in spanish, which one to use??? Only a very good spanish speaker could decide without hesitation.

Jorge! - ” ... I will keep the phrase “”it is worth while fighting for what belongs to us, and no matter how powerful the adversary is, if on our side is the truth, reason and justice“”. ....
Apr 04th, 2010 - 08:59 am - Link - Report abuse 0but is it jorgy boy, is it?? What if your historians only provide a biased view of history, what if your politicians tell you lies, what if the international community thinks that independence is 'reasonable' and what if justice dictates that the islanders be the ones to determine their own future? What then jorgy boy? What then?
Jihad Jorge ejaculated Christine, you won't have those women on the videos, you better keep your old ugly Tatcher. ROFLMFAO

- Maybe, but that only occurs when there is a very long weekend like this one when everybody get out of here.
If you want to know about Jorge and his cuckold insults, ask him about his mum. Thoughtful lady, that she is. Keeping up the morale of the troops like that.
Apr 05th, 2010 - 07:36 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Justin, what hapened to you???? Did I insult your mother??? Then you are gonna say that I'm the one who starts with the insults! Be carefull!!!
Apr 05th, 2010 - 08:44 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Jorge. You insulted evey victim of Al-Qaeda and describe the deaths of those on 9/11 (including the Argentines) as collateral damage. You take the biscuit in the insult stakes.
Apr 05th, 2010 - 10:01 pm - Link - Report abuse 0BTW your president apears to be doing nothing but talking and shouting and is consitently using the Falkland Islands for her own political security. Your Junta tried the same thing which resulted in over 600 Argentine military personel dying for a murderous corrupt dictator. The ones who survived have since been largely abandoned by subseqent leadership.
Your president couldn't lead a booze up in a brewery, but she is certainly good as mismanaging an economy. Anybody care to receive some bonds that are likley to be defaulted?
You know where the Islands are. If you want them come and get them. You won't because you can't.

Apr 06th, 2010 - 12:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0- Stop it!!!!! I didn't insult anyone, you instead insulted the memory of argentine soldiers who fought for our land against pirates and colonialism's supporters like you!!!
.......BTW your president apears to be doing nothing but talking and shouting and is consitently using the Falkland Islands for her own political security........
- Do you read yourself??? Do you realize how stupid you are???
You are repeating like a fool all the bullshit your governments say!!!
......Your Junta tried the same thing which resulted in over 600 Argentine military personel dying for a murderous corrupt dictator. The ones who survived have since been largely abandoned by subseqent leadership........

....Your president couldn't lead a booze up in a brewery, but she is certainly good as mismanaging an economy. Anybody care to receive some bonds that are likley to be defaulted?”.....
- If you don't want to buy them, just don't do it!!!!!! There are many people and businessmen who trust Argentina. Ask Google and Vollkswagen for instance. They don't care what your stupid Financial Times says, they just see what is happening here and invest their money.
Ignorant!!!!!!

Apr 06th, 2010 - 12:37 am - Link - Report abuse 0- That's the typical arrogance that will become a pain in the for you in future. LOL
That's the behaviour of yours that led to the creation of organizations like Al-Qaeda. Deal with it!!!!!!!!
Keep going with that behaviour and you will have more Al-Qaedas and more IRAs. I knew stupidity didn't have boundaries, but you are all a case!!!!!!!!
Justin, what hapened to you???? Did I insult your mother??? Then you are gonna say that I'm the one who starts with the insults! Be carefull!!!
Apr 06th, 2010 - 08:40 am - Link - Report abuse 0I believe you made disparaging remarks about someone's wife, a simple device to bring your attention to it, not for one second do I expect you to apologise. I just pointed something out that demonstrates your typically hypocritical double standards.
the memory of argentine soldiers who fought for our land against pirates and colonialism's supporters like you!!!
Apr 06th, 2010 - 08:43 am - Link - Report abuse 0No British soldiers liberated a small island community from a despotic and corrupt military regime, whose preferred method of dealing with political dissent involved throwing people out of the back of a plane over the South Atlantic sans parachute.
The only nation interested in colonialism is Argentina these days, everyone else is getting on with life, while Argentina bleats on about how it could have been a contender.
Ah somebody rattled the chief Parrots cage again! keep squawking Jorgios-Rios it's music to my ears!
Apr 06th, 2010 - 10:57 am - Link - Report abuse 0Jihad Jorge has indicated that Argentina is a good place to invest. I certainly hope is it as they are going to need all the help they can get now the Chinese have decided that Argentine soya bean oil is not up to scratch. Those individuals who live in the shanty towns surrounding BA certainly need all the help they can get and thier lot will certainly not be helped by Argentina's biggest export being given the cold shoulder by the biggest soya bean importer in the world.
Apr 06th, 2010 - 03:28 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It also looks like Brazil are more than happy to provide the Chinese with the quality of soya-oil that Argentina cannot deliver. This indicates, that although regional leaders with a limited mandate can claim to support Argentina in its supposed claim to the Falkland Islands, in reality they are more than happy to see Argentina hurt so they can take the business opportunity for their benefit. Nice to have such good friends Jorge. Neighbours who will shout in an open forum and not put their intentions down on paper and stab you in the back at the first opportunity.
Perhaps if your excuse for a leadership focused on important things that will actually make a difference for the hard pressed Argentines then your country would attract real investment worthy of note.
I doubt those living in a shanty town give a toss about the Falkland Islands. They are probably more concerend with, food, clean water, security, healthcare and education. Just like your veterans from the Falkland war, your goverment has abandoned its own citizens (except when it wants their votes then it is bribes all round).
Carry on Jorge.
70 JustinKuntz, I didn't insult you nor your mother as you did!!!!
Apr 06th, 2010 - 07:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You are now angry because I demostrates your argument about 1850 convention is pure crap!!!!
You couldn't rebutte that was one of your many agressions against Argentina.
What I tell others is none of your business or are they your machos????
.......No British soldiers liberated a small island community from a despotic and corrupt military regime, whose preferred method of dealing with political dissent involved throwing people out of the back of a plane over the South Atlantic sans parachute.......
- British soldiers didn't liberate anything, they just couldn't put up with a third-world nation like Argentina gets into its own terretory without asking permission to the old imperial power.
........The only nation interested in colonialism is Argentina these days, everyone else is getting on with life, while Argentina bleats on about how it could have been a contender.......
- No, UK resist the idea of taking apart its colonial enclave. There is no room for colonialism in XXI century, much less 14000 km away.
.....Ah somebody rattled the chief Parrots cage again! keep squawking Jorgios-Rios it's music to my ears!......
- Keep trying to find me on the net, you have nothing in life except doing that. Insect!!!!

Apr 06th, 2010 - 07:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0- I will begin to call you fascist and stupid beef if you keep calling me jihad.
You don't know what is happening, China is pressuring for Argentina to lift restriccions over chinnese goods . It's just business. How can be possible that you don't understand????? Are you a religious reader of Financial Times??? Well, stop doing it!!!!! Did you research about Volkswagen and Google in Argentina????? Fiat is another, there are many international companies investing in Argentina because they came and saw what was going on here and decided to make strong investments. Get your facts right!!!!
.......It also looks like Brazil are more than happy to provide the Chinese with the quality of soya-oil that Argentina cannot deliver. This indicates, that although regional leaders with a limited mandate can claim to support Argentina in its supposed claim to the Falkland Islands, in reality they are more than happy to see Argentina hurt so they can take the business opportunity for their benefit. Nice to have such good friends Jorge.......
- Don't be ignorant man!!! If we decide to ban imports from UK, surely France will be glad to suply them! This is all business!!! Pragmatism!!!!
Very rare that someone like you who claims to be an investor, a businessman don't know how this works!!!!!
.......Neighbours who will shout in an open forum and not put their intentions down on paper and stab you in the back at the first opportunity........
Apr 06th, 2010 - 07:39 pm - Link - Report abuse 0- Most of commonwealth countries (not all of them) support the unreal, false, contrived and spurious self-determination of islanders but when it comes to business they could easily change, examples of that are caribean English speaking countries that never before supported argentine claim and they are backing us!!!
They have no power to make UK change its behaviour regarding international law since UK only understand the law of weapons and wars.
Anyway, if Argentina offered something that were very interesting to Australia or New Zealand, they surely would change its possition with regard to Malvinas. Again, this is all about business, this world works that way, it took some time for me to understand it.
......Perhaps if your excuse for a leadership focused on important things that will actually make a difference for the hard pressed Argentines then your country would attract real investment worthy of note.......
- We were the country with more foreign investment during 90's and the claim for Malvinas was there very healthy, indeed, during 90's the claim was stamped in our constitucion and nothing has changed for investors. You seem to ignore that investors don't care those kind of claims, they only care their business, that's why Argentina bans fisheries companies with pirate permissions to fish in the sea controlled by us. Those companies don't care the claim but its money. So, if you want to fish in Malvinas with pirate permission, that's fine, but you won't get permission to do it here. If you are an intelligent investor, you would preffer to do it in the argentine zone which is much extense and much more profitable and in future you could ask for services in our ports.
.......I doubt those living in a shanty town give a toss about the Falkland Islands. They are probably more concerend with, food, clean water, security, healthcare and education........
Apr 06th, 2010 - 07:56 pm - Link - Report abuse 0- Partially true. Food, clean water, security, healthcare and education are urgent needs for many argentines, they don't have the opportunity to enjoy the net as I do. What you say crashs with the typical argument of your country that states argentine governments claim Malvinas to divert people's attention from other issues. You said it!. Many, I would say most of us have many other concerns much more important than a couple of islands, but that doesn't mean we can't still claim them. Governments cannot divert people's attention with Malvinas issues, that have happened before in the dictatorship, will never again!!!!!
.....”Just like your veterans from the Falkland war, your goverment has abandoned its own citizens (except when it wants their votes then it is bribes all round).......
- Now you are treating our veterans as stupids who cannot think by themselves and vote according to their will.
Anyway, I suggest you to start looking at your current country's issues. There are as never before there, people without healthcare and affordable housing, many gang bands and violence is increasing. What economic and social argentine history was so far, could become yours.
........Carry on Jorge.”........
- Don't worry about that!
P.S. Seriously, stop refering to me as jihad, I told you before I don't give a sh*t about religions, all of them suck, they are good for nothing!
intriguing it took you 4 paragraphs to say absolutely nothing......carry on
