Jul 09th, 2010 - 04:06 am - Link - Report abuse 0Even the Malvinas PR Lassies ( http://www.sealedpr.com/ )can’t avoid noticing:
”The ‘attitude of Argentina poses challenges for the Falkland Islands’. Any economic development strategy will have to take into account the political, diplomatic and commercial ramifications of Argentine actions and foreign policy.
In addition, internally, geographic isolation, a small and aging population, a looming labour gap and skills shortage, limit the Islands ability to continue to build upon ‘its strong legacy of the past and to develop a sustainable and vibrant economy for the future.’
Immigration reform and legislative changes will cover the establishment of a clear, path towards permanent residence and Falkland Islands status, with a shorter qualifying period.

this is great news, Malvinas are showing the brits we really have good land in Argentine, they get all happy about our wealth, the more I hear about Malvinas the more I support Argenina to get them back, funny how people attack cans make you sencitive about a subject, I think we should let the illegal colony stay untill they find enough oil to pay for the nukes Argentina will need for self defence, If it wasn't for UK Argentina might never have nukes, wake up people its now or never, the political arena has never being more favorable, with the WMD in Iraq being a fake britain nor USA have hardly enought political capital to bearely get BP to listen.

Jul 10th, 2010 - 03:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0“The book is the adventures of my life…” announced the 52-year-old “…what it is to be an ugly man in Argentina.” Argentina, of course, renowned as country obsessed by looks, where a plaster on the nose from a quick nip/tuck will not provoke even the bat of an eyelid. “They say Argentina has the most beautiful women in the world,” think informs me.
“The book chronicles how I was bullied by schoolmates, rejected by girls,” he tells me. He had spots, wore braces and thick glasses during his adolescence. He said that he could not even get a job at one stage as he was so insecure about his looks. He described himself as ‘introverted’, ‘sad’ and ‘conflicted’ as a child
One day though, Gonzalo decided that enough was enough and soon realised that no amount of dieting, sweating in the gym, nipping or tucking would help him to overcome his complex. His looks were something he would simply have to embrace, and found within himself a great personality which allowed him to do this. This is what thinknzalo calls ‘Feosexual’

backhanders are not taxed, nor declared normally, otherwise they wouldn't be called this. Of course if they were called consultancy fees then that would be a different matter, but this is not how South Amercia operates. They prefer to grease the palm of the folk that hold strings, and fill their own pockets in the process, and rip off the rest of the population.

Jul 11th, 2010 - 03:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Problem:
”If the combined annual income of a couple is £ 136,000, how do they increase their assets by £ 4,441,772 in one year?”
Solution:
1) The couple has stable jobs, expense account, free house, free car, free plane, free helicopter.
2) The couple owns some property that can be use as collateral and they have some friends and family that can act as guarantors.
3) They go to their Local Bank and borrow a sum amounting to the double of their annual income. (I did precisely the same some years ago, before my second divorce :-)
That gives us: £ 136,000 (income) + £ 272,000 (loan) = £ 408,000 (capital)
The couple invests their £ 408.000 in “ROCKHOPPER EXPLORATION PLC” stock, buying it at the *52 week (1 year) low price of 30p per share. (408.000 ∗ 0.30 = 1.360.000 shares)
They get 1.360.000 Rockhopper shares for their money.
The couple sells their 1.360.000 Rockhopper shares at the *52 week (1 year) high price of 369,5p per share. ( 1.360.000 x 3,695 = £ 5.025.200)
They get £ 5.025.200 for their shares.
They go to the bank and pay back their loan with a 25% interest ( £ 5.025.200 - £ 272.000 (loan) - £ 68.000(interests) = £ 4.685.000
The couple walks out of the bank with £ 4.685.000 in their pocket.
Easy

I would not be surprised if all they get from this drill is Key Information and Knowledge - to give a better idea where to drill next time - this is a totally new geoligical area to RockHopper. But a big bonus if it does show positive as well - but not a disater if not. Its on the edge of deepwater drilling as well.

And now, today’s official story:
Jul 12th 2010
“Whilst the results of the Toroa well are disappointing, it has to be remembered that this is the first well in a previously undrilled frontier basin. We believe that these results have helped to reduce some of the key risks of the plays in the deepwater areas of our licenses. In that respect the well is certainly encouraging for further exploration and we look forward to continuing our exploration programme....

Nope, didnt glean it in the pub Think- just I always try and take a rational balanced look at things and some of the speculative hypers get overenthusiastic(and burnt fingers) at times. Totally new field and geological area = I understand the law of average is you find something about 10% of the time - so chances of first hit are not good. But with all the geological info they now have they will have a far better idea where to look next time. I would say today is the time to buy their shares.
Jul 12th, 2010 - 02:54 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Same in the north basin -1998 they first drilled and found it but not commercial in one and some traces in others. 12yrs later(and much better seismic) they get oil but not commercial and gas (still to evaluate) in one - and the good stuff seems to be appearing in No2. Lets see what they find in the rest of the drills up there?
I know nothing about the industry - just try to apply common sense and logic - one of which tells me that you dont spend that sort of money in drilling unless you are pretty damn confident either oil or gas is there somewhere in commercial volume!
Safety - one assumes a BIG lesson is now learnt from the Gulf - and in future safety backup oilspill deepwater procedures will be developed and nearby - wherever in the world.
As for the Economic Strategy review - I have to admit - we too, like you, have Government Departments that love to come up with a lot of hypothetical theories and fancy words to justify their existence at times. But the Islands will continue to develop and propser- maybe quicker-maybe slower - but we will, either with the neighbour - or without .

Well my dear boy these people have names there is “Islander1”, “Zethe”, “JustinKuntz”, “harrier61”, “Briton” and of course “stick up your junta” I cannot see Rhaurie and Hoytred in the neighborhood. Are they ok?
Anyway, some time ago when you even were born an Evil ex Empire nation called UK encouraged them to be British and to be an independent nation. But this was just a dream and an Evil lie but these naive people believed what were told and when the Evil Rulers didn’t find oil or something valuable in the Islands they suddenly abandon them on their own luck.
A really sad story my dear son... really sad...
And what happened Mommy with Evil Empire?
Ah! This is another sad story, after the big recession that turned into a depression they got their own medicine and they where conquered by the German-Franco EU.
They are now just another province of this dominant Empire called EU. They are still struggling to preserve something from the old good days like part of their language as they now speaks Pakistani and Hindi.

Like i JUST said. Neither france not germany will ever tell us what to do. If britian wanted a more leading role in EU we would have it, but we tend to prefer relations with the US.
Jul 15th, 2010 - 02:05 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Both The French and the Germans know they have to work with the British if the EU is to devise a common defence policy. so long as the UK remains outside the euro, and we prefer the Us over the EU, the Franco-German alliance is likely to endure and lead europe.
They keep asking us to become more involved with the eu. We can also opt out of the EU at any time and still recieve free trade agreements. We have kept our currency. And it would not cost us a penny to pull out of the EU.
Today Arg. is the first country to aproval de gay marriage in Latam, and 10th in the world. Gays Uruguayan and people from Malvinas (with their Arg Documents) can marry here too in a real develop country. If the Malvinas people want to leave their dictartopship regime (like Cuba) could make their documents in a real free socity in Ushuaia (Capital of TDF, Antarctica & South Atlantic Islands Province) . All press around the world have shown this new , except Mercopress of course.
Jul 15th, 2010 - 04:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Or they could have a gay marrage on the islands with their government they have chosen to keep.
Jul 15th, 2010 - 04:38 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Perhaps MercoPress didn't want to give everyone a field day about homosexual Argentines. But since you've opened the topic..........
Jul 15th, 2010 - 04:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I understand that there were lots of protests. Thousands of demonstrators gathered outside Argentina's congress to protest against a proposal to legalise same-sex marriage. Amongst them were a large number of deep sea squid protesting that if Argentines could now do it to each other legally, night time beach life would end as this was when the squid rose to the surface to service the Argentine population.
Now a real develop country. Developed into what? Let's see. Argentina is banned from the world's money markets. Argentina employs unwritten trade restrictions, even against fellow members of Mercosur. Argentina's GDP is only slightly better than Venezuela's.
According to Wikipedia, GDP(PPP) per capita for Argentina is $14,560
GDP(PPP) per capita for Venezuela is $12,201
GDP(PPP) per capita for Falkland Islands is $25,000
GDP(PPP) per capita for the UK is $34,619
and GDP(PPP) per capita for the USA is $46,381.
There are ways in which Argentina is developed. It has racism (see the Constitution), it has paranoia, it has anxiety (63%), it has more psychiatrists than any other profession and it is nationally delusional. Oh, and it had millions of its people who fled to the EU because they saw no hope for the country.
And it has the Kirchners. There's a real nail in the coffin.
@harrier61

By talking with them you will find who has not any hope of improvement in their respective countries.
They complain about the state of the Economy in Europe, immigration in Europe and the lose of European values in their respective cultures.

You are going to pay with taxation, jobless, inflation among others painful measures the hole left by international bankers in UK.
They have their money quite safe in free tax heavens and they are slowly moving to Asia.
In addition you will pay the burden of the debt incurred to finance 2 wars that have left only pain a debt to UK. Just because your master US said to do so, you are the dog of US I don’t know how you cannot see that.

Poor Britons some time ago they used to be a wealthy nation but their leaders and own stupidity had turn the nation into a 3er world country.
Such a shame.
