Argentina is drawing on central bank profits to meet financing needs, putting off plans to sell its first international bond since 2001 as yields tumble. The central bank’s board on July 29 approved a transfer of 3 billion pesos (762 million USD) from the bank’s 23.5 billion pesos in 2009 profits to the government, following a 1.5 billion peso transfer in February, spokesman Fernando Meanos said. The only right thing to do in today's international bond market.
Let's continue to pay due debt in cash for as long as possible......
Those 3-4 billion due in the next 12 months should not have any inflationary effect....
    I hope:-)

This is like throwing gas on the fire. Inflation is already out of control and this is only going to compound the situation. A wage increase of 4+% in a month is saying the economy is overheating and if your gov't doesn't get it under control shortly you'll end up like Venezuela.

You may have pretty large oil and gas reserves but that won't be determined until the Ks leave or they get a big enough cut of the business to let exploration begin again.
It is easy for you to deflect and joke but that is why your country is such a disaster.

It is too bad you don't have a Fox type station in Argentina to keep the crooks from stealing your country blind. I am thankful for FOX here in The USA. If not for FOX we wouldn't know all of the horrible stuff our current Socialist/Marxist President has in store for us. Most Americans don't want our country to be like yours.

Jon Stewart is a comedian and Howard Dean is insane. As I have said before, I don't want or need public health care. How are your public hospitals in Argentina? From what I have seen they are pretty scary, with out of date equipment, crumbling buildings and un-knowledgeable staff. I would never go in them.
As I said most people in the USA do not want Gov't controlling any part of our lives we are not and don't want to become Argentina.

My numbers are conservative accorcing to Wikipedia....
At least 15.3% of the population is completely uninsured, and a substantial additional portion of the population (35%) is “underinsured”, or not able to cover the costs of their medical needs. More money per person is spent on health care in the United States than in any other nation in the world. A 2001 study in five states found that medical debt contributed to 62% of all personal bankruptcies. Since then, health costs and the numbers of uninsured and underinsured have increased.

Fox News is an absolute joke whether in the US or anywhere else. First there is Bill O'Reilly, the worlds foremost hypocrite who can't keep his hands to himself or anything else in his pants, but somehow he has an opinion and can judge everyone else. Fox news, like most of the newspapers owned by Murdoch is nothing more than yellow journalism.

As Argentina is not your country Fred, I wholeheartedly recommend you focus on your own. Why do you care or even have an opinion about a country at the other end of the hemisphere? Argentina is neither a military/political threat or particularly strategic for the US nor is it, quite frankly, all that important in terms of trade. What Argentina does or does not do with its resources is none of your business or concern.

RA, I find Argentina fascinating a country. It's a (somewhat) literate population and large producing farmland that made so many wrong turns along the way that they are now one of the poorest countries in the world. I love reading about the corruption and the public manipulation. I think CFK was right when she called Obama a Peronist and I don't want the USA to end up like Argentina. So it is fun to watch the parallels. Luckily, we are not as easily manipulated as their population and should have our problem fixed by next year.
Bill O'Reilly is a commentator if you don't know the difference between a reporter and a commentator you need go back to watching cartoons.

  • RA9212

I know very well who Bill O'Reilly is and what he does. I find it amusing how you attempt to denigrate by inferring I watch cartoons. Rest assured I know far more about what is happening in the US and am extremely well educated, well traveled, and well read. I asked a simple, concrete question and did not insult your intellect, you are entitled to your opinion of FOX as am I.

If you are so concerned about the US becoming like Argentina, I invite you to get off the couch and do something about it rather than waste time on this forum poking fun at a country and its culture. Join the Tea Party movement if this is such a burning concern.

If, as you claim in other postings, you have been to Argentina you will know it is one of the largest media markets in Latin America, and has the highest ciculation newspaper in the Spanish speaking world. It also has a 97.2% literacy rate which you will find on the CIA World Factbook given your stated distrust of Wikipedia as a source. I believe that it is more than a 'somewhat' literate population when the US itself has 99% literacy.

    Aug 04th, 2010 - 03:58 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • fredbdc

The media market may be large but your government has a nasty way of dealing with opposition. How about killing reporters, trying to control the newspaper paper companies and ink, taking away broadcasting rights, harassing the owners family through the courts, just to name a few. Peron set the tone and all of your governments followed along but the population is too ignorant to do anything about it.
Your population may be literate it's just not well educated, America Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) reported that only 36 percent of children finish their 12 years of primary and secondary schooling on time. The people who used to work in my house could barely read or write.

    Aug 04th, 2010 - 04:48 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • RA9212

So you extrapolate from the two individuals in your house that the whole country is poorly educated? According to the 2009 OECD report the US is below the OECD average in science and math. In fact the US ranks 21st out of 33 countries in science and 26th out of 33 in math. The report also shows how the poverty rate and poverty gap are substantially worse in the US than all OECD countries, the majority of which are supposed peer industrialized nations. Therefore using your logic I could surmise that the US is also an increasingly uneducated country. Given the economic crisis and the rising cost of a college education, it is safe to say that this disparity with peer nations will continue grow.

Regarding political interference in the media, you are correct to point out that under the current administration this has worsened and this will need to be reversed. There are many things that need to change, including the law that governs how government advertising funds are distributed to all media outlets (pro and anti-government alike). However, lest you forget, it was the Bush administration that attempted to incarcerate New York Times journalist Judith Miller for refusing to name her source in a 2005 piece under the pretense of national security, hardly an example of the government keeping its hands off the media.

We could do this all day going back and forth with statistics and facts. However, it will do nothing to resolve the problems in either country.

Glover said he thought that a “prolonged stand-off” was more likely than an armed conflict, although “some form of hostilities” coming from Argentina “cannot be ruled out,” for which the UK should “send further aircraft and more naval vessels to persuade Argentina and its South American friends that it means business.”

“The 32 Latin American and Caribbean governments appear to be so blinded by colonial grievances and their minds stuffed with anti colonial-rhetoric, that they missed the point,” he said, referring to the unanimous condemnation of the UK's drilling activities around the islands.

“The Falklands have never been part of Argentina. There were no natives to be deprived by ruthless colonialists of their land,” he adds, and states that “the inhospitable islands were developed by British people.”

“Their descendants, and later arrivals, regard themselves as thoroughly British,” he explains.

“If so, I mean the fact to know UK, you could compare and see the type crappy and 3er world type health care system you have in US. And in UKI the system is running by the estate like here and they don’t have either the cutting edge tech in their hospitals I can assured that. And don’t try with France because you will be like Africa.”

According to the world health organisation France has the best healthcare system in the world. The united kingdom 18'th, USA 37'th. Argentina 75'th.

Your continuing use of the term “third world” just shows your stupidity. Do you even know what it means?

In the cold war the world was split into three “sections” first world nations included America and it's allies, the second world was Russia and it's allies, the third world was all neutral nations. It has nothing to do with a nations wealth, power or healthcare systems.

You should read more, you continue to make your self look stupid.

Think, thanks for cyber stalking me! Pretty rude but I don't expect anything less from a sudaca grosero.
Nico: Do some research on the products you mentioned. I won't debate you it is like arguing with a dumb animal and gets me no where.
Glad to see your basic food basket went up 35% this MONTH. If the Ks aren't careful they will make Argentina the country with the most inflation in SA rather than Venezuela.

I forgot, nico. Given what i just told you in my last post, Argentina is a third world country, all of south america was neutral and therefore a third world country.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:First_second_third_worlds_map.svg

    Blue - First world
    Red - Second world
    Green - Third world

I think this should give you a little bit of perspective. You use the term in a derogative way and in doing so you insult your own country as you were infact, a third world nation. After the Cold war first, second and thrid world lost it's meaning.

    @zethe

You didn’t understand my post in fact I’m saying that UK has a better health care system than US, mate read it again please. So I don’t understand why you are so piss off.

About your 3er world stuff yes you are right in the beginning was a political position representing a 3er independent position but the Neocon’s media and politician in US and UK used the term as a derogative thing meaning marginalization, poverty and inequality.

Well is what is happening now in US and UK so you are turning into the new 3er world (according with your own definition). It’s that simple as you call the southern countries in Europe PIGS is very funny but I don’t know why you have excluded UK from the PIGS or PIIGS club. When having the same problems. Double standard and hypocrisy perhaps?

About your opinion about Argentina I don’t care really and I doubt that anyone cares about the opinions of yanks or Brits here.

But if you want, I will make you happy by making you feel a little bit superior, because you seem to need some confidence on yourself and know that you are not ready living in a 3er world country.
    So here I go:

Argentina is the poorest country in the world, uneducated, corrupted, full of criminals, and full of black nazis. So I must recommend you to don’t come down here please because can be very dangerous for a “superior well educated white person” like you mate.

Don’t bother yourself any more we are not interested and we don’t care on what happen with you, your country, your opinions, etc.

So why are you expending your time on us? Do you have a pshicological problem?

    @ fredbdc

Who cares if you debate or not? Why you don’t use your time to resolve the problem in USA instead of putting your nose in other people stuff?

Are you Brit? No! So what are you doing here?
Stay in Miami dancing salsa mate we don’t care.
About the inventions you need to make a research your propaganda had killed you or you believe that Henry Ford invented the car? Sure you do...

    Dear Nico.

You are a complete idiot, i JUST explained to you what the first second and third world means. It was, and has always been a political stance for nations, after the Cold war it lost all meaning and is null and void.

The UK and US can not turn into thrid world country because the first second and third world does no longer exist. Even if the cold war was still going the only way for us to change “worlds” was if we was to become neutral or allied with russia.

Un-educated people still use the term third world country in a derogative, By doing so you not only show your intelligence, but insult your own country, as Argentina is a “Third world country”.

“It’s that simple as you call the southern countries in Europe PIGS”
Thats a lie, i've never said that. I often visit europe and enjoy it. I'm visiting france in a month.

How can you keep insulting the US' healthcare system when the list clearly shows you are way fruther down the list? Throwing stone again, Whats it like to live in a glass house?

    @ Dear zethe

1- If you one day have a health problem (I hope not) and you are so unfortunate to be in US without a insurance or coverage paid from your wallet you will see how reliable is that list.

By paying you or me can have excellent health care in any part of the world including a couple of nurses Playboy magazine style and a bottle of champagne. the problem is people that cannot pay or is uncovered. In US there are 60m of people without coverage.

Entire families in US have been destroyed financially for dealing with health problem and even though having a health insurance. The company easy can deny to cover the cost.

If this is for you a good system what can I say?
    How do you call this?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4kbag-f3K8

    And this?
In an hour 10.050 go bankrupt because of their health insurance bills.. in a day 50 dies due to not access to medical treatment.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4kbag-f3K8

2- Americans themselves are seeing how US is turning to a 3er world country you can hear Jon Voight saying that.

We are seeing US and UK turning into a 3er world country. If everyone has the same perception you will be a 3er world country don’t matter what you do, think or say. And when that happens all capital financing your fiesta will be gone.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4kbag-f3K8

3- PIIGS or PIGS stand for Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain anachronism used by the British media to point out the trouble financial states of these countries. What is funny its that UK has the same problem but even worse.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4kbag-f3K8

4-“Whats it like to live in a glass house?”
    Beautiful and very sunny, thanks.
BTW tell me What's like to live without a house in UKI?

Welcome to the 3er world mate.

haha I know your health care system in London and is pretty like here and some places are even worse.

What are you comparing a hospital in nowhere in Chaco with a 1er class clinic in London?

As seems for you that good medicine relay just on infrastructure, building and fancy flat screen, etc

Let’s make a little survey on that area.

Your best neurological center in UKI is this NHNN http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/CmsImages/851D3FB5-0894-461C-991D-90F1BD441E10/94661/175/0/NHNN2.gif

Can you see the difference in size infrastructure, etc?

Do you need more comparatives because if full of hospital, clinics and doctors down here?

Just a normal clinic 30 km from Buenos Aires http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/CmsImages/851D3FB5-0894-461C-991D-90F1BD441E10/94661/175/0/NHNN2.gif

Now can we talk seriously about the crappy state of the health care system in US?

Or do you need to show us same fancy flat blue screen to feel technological advanced?

If that is the case I can show you some robots to perform remote surgery here in BA and nuclear medicine.

So grow up and start to inform yourself a little bit more because you start to sound like the yanks you only need to make some silly question like.

Mobile phones have arrived yet in UK? UK is old and a little village there is not an Apple store in town? Haha
You have to hear them is very funny.
    BTW are you yank?

The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that acts as a coordinating authority on international public health.

While you may have your oppinions, they are the authority and experts on the matter.

    http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html.
    France - 1
    United kingdom - 18
    United states - 37
    Argentina - 75

    @zethe

Now you are devote of UN and what about when they say that you have a colony and that you have to live ASAP in Malvinas?

Anyway “The World Health Organization's ranking of the world's health systems was last produced in 2000, and the WHO no longer produces such a ranking table, because of the complexity of the task.”

Lets say that the results were so controversial and inaccurate that was a joke.

In your rank Morocco is ranked over Canada, Finland and Denmark have you ever been in a Morocco hospital? I guess you don’t you surely will chose 100 times Denmark.

Italy place that I know fair well rank #2 I can tell you for sure that Italy health system sucks people has to go abroad to get dental care because in Italy is so expensive. Italian hospitals are very dirties and you can get into a hospital with a headache and ended up with a peritonitis operation by mistake. No change for me to trust and Italian doctor.

UK is over Switzerland well this is very funny no comment at all.
In you UK your doctor can be trained from Nigeria, Jamaica, India, Pakistan, etc. Nothing against theses countries but the Argies are far, far, far, far better trained, skilled and trusty than any in your country.
Do you get the picture here?
Now the most amazing Paraguay ranks over Argentina they came here in buses to get free treatment in our hospitals like other countries.
Seem Paraguayan didn't read your rank else they would prefer to use their own better system, so we will save a lot of taxpayer money.

Your rank is useless old and inaccurate made by Christopher Murray that by change he came from Oxford and knows more about economy than medicine as he got physician degree in US.

And since when someone trained in Oxford can be trusted, they have ruined your country and now they will cut your budget in education and the Army. Haha can you see that you have a educational problem mate.

Come on you couldn’t found something more serious mate you are disappointing me, really.

    Again: your oppinion, not fact.

List is a study generated by a world organisation who specializes in this subject. Even 10 years old it's still relitive, entire healthcare systems do not change in years, they change over decades.

The UN aren't going to say we have to leave the islands nico, it's actually impossible for them to tell us to leave the islands, we can veto. Even then, they would not.
