    Alejandro:

    You are to generous.....
    5€ is too cheap!
I paid gladly more than 10€ last time in London!
Los Llanitos have a lot of money.... They can pay..... They won't mind!

Important information. There is a ferry from Algeciras to Gibraltar. Can be used until Spain has to get rid of this dopey mayor for interfering with free movement within the EU.

#4 Think, well there is, you just have to go via Tangier, and if you've gone to Tangier then why would you want to go to Algeciras?

the simple answer here is this,
the Gibraltar government then should charge the Spanish to enter ,
the Spanish will soon give up, like most politicians, its about grabbing money for greed, and nothing to do with democracy,

Sadly our mayor has hit a small problem .... Madrid just told him that La Linea doesn't actually own the road that goes to the border .... apparently Madrid does!

Talking of Melilla (Sticky #5), I see things are kicking off again in that Spanish colonial enclave. The comments to the story amuse me greatly, so much bluster, factual inaccuracy and logical gymnastics. Even so, I support the idea that if the people of those cities want to remain Spanish they should. Regarding the other “plazas”, with no population, I can't see how Spain can justify hanging onto them...

It seems that the Spanish government has told Snr Sanchez that his proposals breach national and international EU laws, and refused him a permit to do anything to impede traffic entering or leaving Gibraltar. So much for the Popular Party.

Harrier, they refused the renew the permit. It was applied for months ago and he could not get himself organised before it expired!

Just wanted to post this as a correction to Twinky's post at (4).

There IS a direct ferry between Algeciras and Gibraltar.
It's passenger only - no cars - and costs 4 euros.

So here are the FACTS. When a Brit researches something, it's the TRUTH. When an argy says anything, it's a LIE.

    Paging Mr Think

Meanwhile Spanish ferry line Transcoma has launched a promotion offering a maritime alternative to La Linea’s controversial congestion charge. The border toll is nowhere near becoming a reality yet, but the company running a service between the Rock and Algeciras is wasting no time

Transcoma is offering a £5 return fare, a lovely sea voyage, an opportunity to avoid the cesspit of La Linea and a chance to show Snr Sanchez the famous British two fingers.
