The biggest hamburger in the Caribbean, a ten pound (4.5 kilos) family burger, is prepared and served with a secret sauce in Puerto Rico and for the very tempting price of 29 US dollars.
“Many people come to our place for hamburgers and some were really big groups, so that is how the idea of a jumbo burger to share with family and friends was born”, reveals Hector Muñoz owner of Amanda’s Wood Sport Bar in the Puerto Rican city of San Lorenzo.
The family burger with ten pounds of fresh beef bred in the island comes with home made bread and other ingredients such as lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese and the also famous secret sauce, a blend created by Mr Hector Muñoz.
“We use really fresh beef and this also helps make the burger taste differently and delicious”, added the innovative chef-entrepreneur.
Muñoz said it also causes great satisfaction to see the surprise in the faces of clients when the family burger is served.
“First of all they are overwhelmed by the size. The first reaction is that they can’t finish such a big helping. And really nobody, no single person, has accomplished such a challenge, so far”.
Furthermore the 29 US dollar bill makes it extremely accessible since “six to seven people can share the burger”.
But besides size, according to Muñoz his hamburger has another greater attraction: “talking about the size of the burger helps the family and friends to share more than a meal”.
Success is tempting Mr Muñoz to try other “jumbo family” plates and the first in the pipeline is a “family bacon burger”.
