Mercosur and Unasur (Union of South American Nations) can be “more effective” than OAS (Organization of American States) in addressing issues of South American countries, said Brazilian Foreign Secretary Celso Amorim currently in Switzerland for a conference on international security.     Yes, correct Mr. Amorim. But an organization's effectiveness depends highly on its members willingness to cooperate. Had Uribe remained in power longer, Unasur would not have solved the Colombia-Venezuela issue. For as anyone could see, Uribe's clear intention was to get the US involved in the affair.

    Btw, I'm waiting, and hoping, some countries - mainly Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela - will drop their OAS membership soon.
