The Pope's message is one that is not welcome among the large majority of UK citizens. He spreads bigotry and intolerence and I am proud that there were 10,000 protesting during his mass on Saturday.

I agree that the religion´s voice must be related to the church and no take part in the politics. It´s just a matter of faith and it be considered to develop inside the family and church, but not influence the gvts.
All around the world religion is tha cause of wars (UK-Ireland, Palestinians-Jewish, Balkanic countrues, former USSR countries, etc.) because all of them believe they are the owner of “the” truth and if you are not with me you´r my enemy....and I have the right to fight against you. Wrong!! There is no just one truth...about it because is just faith.... not science, so no need to be probed just believed.....even it´s good or bad for people ( like burnt those who don´t beleieve in your faith, kill women by stoning, or other privileges like that owned by religions).
We are in the 21st century, so all of this kind of oppression is not necessary. People must be free of that kind of mastermind ruling our countries to get the political power.
It said in Chile, my country that the State is secular and free of believing, but the influence of religion is too much today unfortunately for us, the Chilean people. The State, the justice, the congress and the gvt. must be free of this kind of negtive influence because they must rule for all the citiziens, believers or not, and the believers can choose if some laws afect their faith to apply to them or not (divorce, abortion, euthanssia, birth control systems, etc.)
I´m not aginst the religions, just I think they must be considered in a right level that affect just those believe in them, specialy when human right of citiziens are diminished by them, like the muslim do to women considering them as almost second class citiziens...

Islam isn't a religion. It's a policy and blueprint for repression and world domination.

Consider the great religions: Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity. How many of these had founding figures that indulged in wars of conquest?

But that is exactly what Muhammad did.

    Typhoon,

Give me a break. Check the internet, the world is full of Paedophilia, it happens in all sectors of society. The Pope has admitted it, what needs to be done is punish those priests of whatever religion who did that. The Islam world is full of institutionalized paedophilia too and millions of kids suffer abuse in those societies. But for every person who claims to have been a victim of paedophile in a catholic institution, there are hundreds of thousands of persons whose lives were saved by the good deeds of the church.

Ahhhh, yes. The “good deeds” of the church. Like burning “heretics”. Like the Inquisition. Like spiriting thousands of Nazi war criminals away. Like becoming as rich as Croesus. Pull the other one. The church, especially the Roman Catholic church, is simply a grouping of the power-hungry without the ability to succeed in any other enterprise.
