Whoops! CFK had an opportunity to make a mature response that should her ability to be an astute leader and she has blown it. Such a response makes her sound like Chavez, Mugabe or Ahmadinejad hence the president of Uruguay has distanced himself for those comments.

CFK has embarrassed herself and her proud country. Or perhaps she is trying to get more support for the 2011 election?

    Money talks….

The Gloucester did not get permission to call port in Uruguay.
The leaders of the region are taking the right decisions for their respective countries after deep and serious economical analysis.

    As it should be………………………

“Denial of Services” to little “Malvinas bound business” by our regional partners will not affect all other kind of commercial military or diplomatic relationships with the UK.

Unless, of course, Great Britain chooses so…………….

Getting Brazil on board with this will cost Argentina a lot ... nothing is for free in this word Think, and I suspect you're reading too much into this. After all 2 ships refused access in 3 years ...... only 2 British ships called at Uruguay in 3 years ??

Come on Think, you are a bright guy bur have just let yourself down!

Brazil - UK defense agreement gives access to BAE kit at a cut down price! What could Argentina offer? Nothing. Also Brazil sees future trade with the EU as more profitable than with Argentina. They will need support for certain member states and Spain and Portugal are in no economic shape to increase consumption! They will also need to hedge againt the Euro and will see an EU member who is not in the Eurozone as a very attractive option. More Brazilian companies will want easier access to the LSE!

Brazil hold the Aces over Argentina and you know it! Why didn't Argentina verbally castigate Brazil as a traitor when they allow RN and vessels connected with the oil industry to call into port?

Sorry think in terms of leverage Argentina knows it's place!

Seems the Botox Queen likes to display her immaturity and paranoia to the world. With this she wants a seat on the Security Council? Argentina is displayed to the world as a petulant kiddie.

Now let us wonder. Will Uruguay get what it wants from Argentina? Will Argentina realise that it isn't actually calling the shots? If the Argentines get uppity, to whom will Uruguay turn for assistance?

    (7) Come on Mr. Beef…………….

Do you mean that BAE will not trade weapons to Brazil because of the ”quite insignificant issue” of “Denial of Services” to all “Malvinas bound business” ???

Do you mean that the EU will stop economical links with Brazil because of the ”quite insignificant issue” of “Denial of Services” to all “Malvinas bound business” ???

Do you mean that the LSE will close its doors to Brazilian capital because of the ”quite insignificant issue” of “Denial of Services” to all “Malvinas bound business” ???

    PS:

Problem is Think is that the FI are subject to a number of EU trade regulations! So any trade agreement would be default include the Islands and such an agreement would need the tacit nod of the UK. This would compel states under the agreement to engage in free trade without exclusion.

As for her Ladyship - she has finally flipped and drunk from the same bottle as the Iranian guy! Mujica has even realised the danger and withdrawn a bit from her arms! Britain after oil? As you know very very well any oil(if any) is Islands oil in the first place and secondly Britain has stacks of proven reserves offshore herself!
Fish?- actually there are no UK vessels down here - they are mostly Spanish and from the Far East. Not many left on your side eaither as you overfished with little environmental control.

    Think,

Argentina's sole success is successfully planting the story this is the result of the British Government, we know it isn't its down to the FIG moving foward under agreements reached in 1997 that Argentina UNILATERALLY withdrew from and so stem from the UNILATERAL actions of Argentina. Since as usual you have to base everything on being economical with the truth., its incumbent to point out that its all down to UNILATERAL actions by Argentina.

Sea Lion will be cheap to extract which further supports commerciality. All we need now is the updated volume data - significant upside potential!

Think, you completely discredit yourself when you say that Britain unilaterally decided and took action to exploit the resources of the Falklands. You are basing this on what your government is preaching, which is incorrect. I have been to the Mineral Resources Department on Ross Road, Stanley, I have worked with people who are employed by Mineral Resources, they are the ones who issue the oil licences in the Falklands. I know this for a fact. When you say that Britain decided unilaterally etc, you are wrong. I base my knowledge on what I have seen and my working experience, you base yours own your corrupt government, who are just speculating, they do not know what they say as fact. And you will continue to discredit yourself if you keep claiming that Britain took unilateral action. Please stick to the facts.

Perhaps if MoFi instead of talking nonsense read his constitution (written in London & unvoted by kelpers) he will realize that the head of FIG is the unvoted british colonial governor, who has crucial veto & political power.
So if you read carefully your contitution (books don´t bite) you will find that Mr.Think is right, FIG is only a mask to hide the british colonialist power over a foreign southamerican territory, using kelpers as an excuse to sustain such presence in an alien region 14k miles away from home.

What matters is that this article Uruguay is sympathize with the Argentine claim over the islands, and do not let an English military ship use its ports. What is the diferncias if they were previous decisions?, The ship will not dock or dock in the future. Uruguay and Argentina always fraternal peoples.

    But do they sympathise?

    Or could it be:
    a) they want a bargaining chip in future negotiations with Argentina over the outstanding issues between the two countries; or
    b) they are under pressure by their bigger and bullying neighbour ?

The latter has some creedence because of the reported apology and the 'explanation' to the British Embassy.

@63 I don't see anything in the article to suggest that Uruguay sympathises with Argentina on the matter of the Falkland Islands. Rather the contrary actually.

I coincide with 63 Ant: as the world you interioriza of the conflicts of Malvinas is very Ovio that the governments come with a lot of pleasure the I claim of the sovereignty of Argentina, today's of Uruguay solidarity and of Brazil in the making and everybody later, leave with clarity that the I claim it is very fair. It is evident that they attend the Argentina historical, geographical and economic arguments. A colony maintained to the force for more than 14.000 kilometers with a transplanted population is more than evident, and it doesn't resist the smallest analysis.

Look, sonny. If you can't manage English, go somewhere else. But here's a bit of advice. Repeating virtually the same words on more than one thread is considered to be spamming and will get you reported.

No idea what you're talking about Raul ... you use a lot of english words, but possibly in all the wrong places :-)

Now it's been a couple of days since this article appeared and Think insinuated that it was a lie as only one, sect orientated, newspaper had reported on it. So now, can anyone tell me whether there have been any official denials regarding this story???

all that really matters to Argentina is. When the shit hits the fan] who will back them against the British forces. out of approx 199 countries in the world i doubt if less that 5 would back her in voicing their opinion.
But less that one would back her with military help.
so the result stands, the islands will remain British until the Falklanders decide otherwise, and as for Argentina, there is NOTHING they can do about it, except shout scream and CRY, oh dear what an embarrassment to them lolol

Whilst I regret Uruguay's decision not to allow the Royal Naval vessel to enter port, I do respect their explanation and feel their determination not to be bullied or drawn into this dispute by Argentina shows great maturity. Likewise I trust the Argentinian people understand that the British people are determined to stand by the Islanders for as long as they choose to remain free, democratic and independent.

A pathetic comment by Kirchener that shows her for the stupid ignorant president she is.

Unfortunaly Cameron and others are far to dignified to sink to her level and blast her comments for the silly infantile garbage that is expected of 12 years old not heads of states.

Pity because I reckon a very vicious retort likening Argentina's attitude to that of a 19th century imperialistic inavder would put her on teh backfoot.

Talking about the ”Moon Church” and the ”Moonies”…..

If you read carefully you will notice that quite a few ”News” in here originate from UPI…

UPI stands for ”United Press International” and, in my youth, it was one of the best News Agencies of the world.

But things have apparently changed quite a bit….

Guess who owns UPI today……. Jeppp…. The Moon Church…………

Think, I am not in favor of censorship or against free press, we suffered that for a number of years. What I am against is special interest groups that use fake newspaper to spread their lies Early this afternoon in another add, now comments are not allowed, I was writing in my poor english, by force, about the strange location of this news agency. No insults or any bad language was used, at the same time the editor was removing all my comments and Ocampo comments also, Mr Zhetee was a witness of this action. So is ok censorship by MercoPress when we raise some legitimate questions?

You did not raise legitimate questions, you were threatening to bring in a bunch of Argentines to flood the site. I don't blame Mercopress for one second for deleting your posts.

At the end of the day, its their site, their rules. You either respect that or go elsewhere. True to type you claim censorship, when what you were trying to do was censor the site for neutral reporting instead of favouring Argentina.

    Hi Kate

This is a malign, arrogant, macho-type lie because it propounds a
policy of confrontation that, if implemented, would be dreadfully
costly to Argentina herself, and would never succeed in recovering
what was lost as far back as 1833, and which the war of 1982 made
    irrecoverable.

Well, well well. Interesting. Very interesting.

I seem to be worrying people so much, they're rehearsing their arguments off site before taking me on.

But off in their intelligence gathering, as I didn't serve in the RN. Creepy isn't it, that they're so worried they're now stalking me on the Internet.

Who started the stalking? Ah yes that would Think, who has done his level best with smear and innuendo to avoid engaging with, and I quote, “logical, intelligent, well rounded, sensible arguments”.

    Mmmmmm.

Apologies to the editors of Mercopress for attracting these nutters to your website.
