    scots are fine people.

they are a nation robbed during 500 years by their english royal masters. Royalty serving people the scots are; but this must end for scotish people best interest.

scots-english partnership made sense when UK was an empire in africa, india and australia. Today, as there is no empire left, it is a defeat situation for scots. scots are the owners of the oil & farm power but scotland is the most miserable part of UK.

Folks, they in Europe are lying (same story of the farmers in Holland who enjoyed their fancy subsidy and working “hard” with Dutch tax money). The truth is, they just can't compete and are not willing to compete, because they know they will loose.

Anyone interested in real economics check this out. No politics, no left or right mambo jambo..just plain math.

So nice of our Argentine bretheren to claim to speak for us Scots, well you don't, we can speak for ourselves. The proposals here are sensible, we have stringent regulations on animal welfare, we don't permit the use of growth hormones or genetically modified food. If you wish to produce to our standards, fine the market will be open, the playing field level. If you don't, then fine, we don't want your product.

    Simples.

“but this must end for scotish people best interest.”

I think you'll find if you did the slightest bit of research that scottish MP's have more power than english ones.

English MP's can't vote on Scottish affairs, While Scottish MP's can vote on English affairs.

Also relative to there GNP the scottish have many good reasons to be part of the union from defence to political clout.

To be honest, you can't speak for Scottish people and what they “need” There are Scottish people on these very forums who can speak for themselves.

Are you implying that England forced Scotland into the union? You are very wrong.

The Idea of union was first thought of and created by the King of Scotland, who was also king of England. King James VI, King of Great Britain, King of France, King or Ireland, King or England, King of Scotland.

However, it is important to realise and accept Scottish concerns. Proper controls must be exercised over imports from third-world countries. Otherwise, it is appropriate to sink all vessels bringing imports from third-world countries in the North Sea off the coast of Scotland. There shouldn't be much loss of life if they've managed to keep up with the safety precautions of civilised nations like Britain.

What is never reported in EU-Mercosur trade talks, is that they're not all about agriculture. The EU is highly interested in expanding the market for its manufactures. And Mercosur, in its own, wants reciprocation: since the EU wants to open other countries' doors to its competitive manufactures, then it should open its own doors to Mercosur more competitive exports, namely agricultural products.

That brawl is an old one. The FTAA sinked because the US wanted to open LatAm countries markets to US manufactures and services, but it itself refused to open its own market to agricultural exports from LatAm. The US alleged that the WTO rounds would be a more appropriate place for such negotiation. But then the WTO Doha round, too, failed because developed countries - the US, Canada and Western Europe - wanted an asymmetrical trade liberalization, that is, they wanted to liberalize only the industry but keep subsidizing their farmers. Quite honest fellas, those First Worlders!

Typhoon, your reactionary and smug rhetoric is utterly loathsome. If you're afraid of competition, then fine. If you don't want your decaying country to receive Mercosur exports, fine too! But - I'm now referring to 1st Worlders in general - cease crying for “free market”, cease asking for more trade liberalization. Cease saying you believe free market works for all. Let European products get stucked in Europe. We'll see who's going to bleed more. Is it LatAm that is asking for greater cooperation with Britain? No, it isn't. It is Britain that is saying it wants a rapproachment with LatAm. And the reason for that is clear: Western Europe is a community of economically stagnated, aging, decaying and increasingly irrelevant countries. To spur economic growth they can no longer count on their domestic markets. They need fast growing markets with a younger consuming class. It will collapse if it can't find them in the next years. - Good luck with that.

Why Aye mon! incredible I leave for a week and already we have arch Malvinist's rewriting Scottish history and talking about Mel Gibson.

Well given how much they know about the Falklands, I doubt they have performed any better?

Well why don't we put something on topic worth talking about?

So the main points here are Scottish Agricultural quality controls vs EU legislation and perceived lack of similar quality controls in Mercosur?

Do our South American brethren agree with such a statement? Are your agricultural products up to us Scots rigourous “elf and Safety” Standards?

There is genuine cause for concern of course, If the Chinese halted Soya Imports over similar health and quality concerns and given the Chinese's lack lustre approach to “elf and Safety” within their own country in regards to food stuffs!

There therefore must then be significant concern by Scottish farmers that cheaper less quality products will undermine our very quality driven food market and also decades of tedious and lengthy legislation rattled out to ensure such fine standards in agriculture within Europe.

Now cross my fingers for a relevant debate in 1...2...3...4...5......

OK I see someone mentioned BSE, well of course you haven't checked your facts first:

    http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publications/2002/12/14759

The incidence of BSE in Scotland was much lower than the rest of the UK, our cattle are mainly grass fed and the practise of feeding Meat and Bone Meal to herbivores was less widespread.

Would someone from Argentina care to comment on the production and use of MBM in Argentina? It is now banned in the UK.

Having already seen a disaster in food production due to the practice of not understanding the implications of what we put in the food chain, it is not surprising that we are ultra cautious about importing a problem from countries who are less cautious about such technology than we are.

Again we're happy to buy your product, providing you produce it to standards we find acceptable.

Tell you what Xbox delve into the archives of those newspapers and go back 5 years, the logic reached states: “Same shit different day”.

Now where did I state or imply in any manner that Latin America needs anything from Scotland dear fellow? That was not my question at all!

I said “Are south American Products up to our rigorous safety standards?” Now where is the statement which states that we are trying to offload goods onto you?

The phrase and question therefore refers to South American products entering Scottish markets, not vice versa.

    Now lets try again Children?

Are you products up to our standards? Simple Yes and No would suffice.

    Let´s see:
    1) Europe has developped during last 60 years a lot of false or sophistic arguments in order to overprotect its agricultural production.
    2) If this claim is genuine or another bullshit included in the point 1), I don´t know for sure.
    3) for JK, Argentina has a record of zero cases of BSE because animal subproducts have been forbidden for animal feeding. Happy that Scotland had less cases and didn´t hide the risks to her population, as UK as a whole did. BTW: I know this by personal experience, so try to save your pedantic style about presumed homework. One BSE case is enough.
    4) RC: yes, we can meet your standards if you don´t use just as commercial barriers. Not sure if we want to meet them, as some more friendly markets are arousing worldwide. The trade in the inverse sense will be undoubtely affected if are just false commercial barriers.

“Are south American Products up to our rigorous safety standards”

Of course mate Argentina has been exporting to EU, Russia, Israel, USA, etc. always.

But the question would be... do you have the same standards to meet our market?

I guess not because EU request rigorous fitosanitary and safety standards to enter into its market but EU cannot meet at all in some countries like Scotland, England, our standards, etc...

The proof is your widespread of the BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) or Mad Caw Disease (how is called vulgarly in Britain) around Europe. Producers were feeding cattle with rest of other infected animals like sheep.
    http://www.accessexcellence.org/WN/NM/madcow96.php

In fact you cannot introduce any kind of food to Argentina previous rigorous inspection and certification from SENASA. http://www.accessexcellence.org/WN/NM/madcow96.php

I never eat meat in Europe if it’s not from Argentina and sealed in its original Cryovac packaging well marked by the Argie producer. So pasta and vegetables is the way to remain healthy in Europe.

And in the case you can meet our standards what would you export to us? Huggies? Fish & chips? Kebabs? Soup?

Britain is the worst place to eat in the world after Africa everyone knows that in Europe. About what rigorous safety standards are you talking about in Scotland?

Come on Rhaurie you are from little rural Scotland and not from Germany or France you still eat that disgusting thing called Huggies. @Stick

You are loosing your touch Obama and the department of justice suggested to the judges to stop bothering Argentina with legal claims submitted for ATFA as is damaging relation and put in doubt the untouchable status given to central bank reserves deposit in NY Banks. Money talks and our says 52bn words.

On the other hand G20 was called to deal with the crisis caused by US and UK we didn’t ask to be in we were asked to be in as part of the Group of the 20 most advanced economies in the world. We don’t need G20 or G8 or whatever what for?
We talk directly with its members we don’t need a photo with Obama and you?

So ATFA is irrelevant less than IMF or WB for us.
We don’t have any crisis, we are not in recession else we are growing at 9.5% rate.

So you can claim for Scotland to be in the G20 group. Ah! sorry a forgot that you are so little and countless in this world. But we will support you anyway so you can have something to be proud of after all.

ah wondered how long it would be before Nicodume felt the patriotic call of duty to defend the motherland from the vicious attacks of the Scots questioning the somewhat loose safety protocols that govern Argentine food production typical Nicodume style instead of answering the question he goes on the defensive:

“eeeer umm oh ah, you eat Huggies and drink, ddduh don't make me laugh, hey look at this youtube video it has a homless guy init in London, I only eat Argentine meat, and you huggies eeerm you have 50% more population, my mates a business man... heeey look a pigeon!”

Can Scotland meets Congo rigorous high standards on Whisky production?
Because we are aware of that Scots low quality Whisky and safety production can poisoned some Africans there.

About your questioning about Argentina Food Procedures Code the answer is quite simple.

Argentina has the status of Global Food Supplier in the world.

So again we don’t need EU agreements but you do so, its your problem if we invade you with processed food, meat, grains, cheap cars, auto-parts, medicines, machinery, plastic, mobile phones, etc. and everything we produce cheap than Europe down here. Its not our fault its entire yours.

In return we will buy high tech machinery and expensive goods from countries like Germany, France and Italy.
As you in UK have little change to export anything to us except cheap loans from London.

So I don’t know why you Scots are complaining or you don’t have any weight in the EU?

Do you want to start Arg/Scot trading right now by buying caned and custom software from me? What can you offer to me apart of delicious Huggies?

    I hope I have reach your expectations : )

Still global food supplier and giant in food processed food. : )

Well according with your own figures your bigger export was medicaments (including veterinarian stuff) and you top trade partner is US (in decline) and you total export is around 300bn in decline.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/feb/24/uk-trade-exports-imports

So how can you export in financial services the GDP of Argentina if your entire exports are 300bn?

We export 75bn, where $35bn MIO (Manufactured Industrial Origin), $17bn oil, gas, raw and services and $17,5bn agri stuff.

If we reach EU market we will be exporting the same as you export today in 5 years.

Welcome to globalization you will have to invent something real to live.

We have 500 medicaments labs in Argentina do you thing you can compete with that?
None multinational could take over Argie Pharma industry ever in Argentina.

“Through most part of the second half of the last century, both local and multinational companies fiercely competed among each other. As a matter of fact, none of the foreign subsidiaries could ever displace Argentinean giants like Roemers, Bagó and Gador from the first places of nearly all segments. So contrary to many other Latin America countries where multinational laboratories absorbed most of local operations, that was clearly not the case for Argentina.”

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/feb/24/uk-trade-exports-imports

Just open your market to us and you will see what it is a real competition Adam Smith/Darwin style mate.

NicoDin: What you are trying to say is that they are slowly taking over the UK, which is quite incorrect.

Out of most nations(especialy europe) the UK has a low immigration level, currently at about 9%.

    @stick up your junta

Again targeting Bolivian, Peruvians, Chilean, etc.
The Xbarilox’s 2nd video shows shantytown houses in Glasgow and drug dealing 10 blocks of the Canary Wharf where the London Sky line is in London, financial center.

    @xbarilox

They call a fail of “police anti drugs policy” when in fact it is corrupted Police and politicians.

The police is involved in the deal of drug in UK.

In some areas drugs dealers make deals by using a public phone box, the guy stands up close to the phone box waiting for calls of customers.

If you try to use the phone they get upset. And the guy trys to tell you that the phone is not working (this happened to me) when I asked him “so what are doing here mate?” he said well sorry but I’m waiting for a urgent call but if you are not taking so long use it. The phone worked fine.

Then I passed later and the guy was still there. They use this method to not be traced and use random box in the area. This happens at night where you can see the guy from 300 mts of distance.
The police pass as a nothing happens. Imagine that I as a foreigner discovered what the guy was doing in ten minutes and the Bobies passing patrolling don’t even care.

How do we call this? Zona liberada (free zone)

Corruption nahhh! just bad unti drugs police policies. Haha

And then they like to make documentaries of Paco in villa 31, to show how bad we are and how fine they are.

And how do we call this mate? Typical Hypocrites

We should set up a TV producer content company to show 24 hours a day only Brits/Chilean/Yanks and any troll’s country miseries.
We will have material for 50 years with one week shot.

Can you see Xbarilox that we are not so bad after all?

    : )
