way to go, England! Keep it up! Meesing up people's lives! Overseas Territories (aka British dependent territories until 2002, aka Colonies until 1981)

“We value our ties with the Overseas Territories highly and are keen to maintain that bond of friendship.”lol FRIENDSHIP! Yes, you're the coolest friends ever! Especially for the people of the Chagos Islands, still wanting to ruturn http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/man-vs-marine-in-the-chagos-islands-1894560.html

” Her Majesty the Queen” These people are still cave-dwelling creatures. A Queen!

Really xblox? Let's look at how many people will come to the UK to watch the Royal Wedding (especially Americans).

Cave dwelling creatures. I suppose you include the following on that, Spain, Holland, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Brunei, Qatar, Oman, Bahrian, UAE, Canada, Australia. All of whom have a Royal ruler either absolute or benign.

Most people of those countries have a higher standard of living than most in Argentina.

Kings and Queens living in caves? I have been to Brunei more times that I can recall and if you could refer to the Sultan's palace as a cave then I would love to see your hovel. I wouldn't mind moving into the cave that is Buck Palace.

Last time I checked it was Argentina that defaults on it's debt. What is your credit rating BTW?

The Falklands are not the UK's to give away just like they are not Argentina's to take. Let us remember that you tried to force your way in less than thirty years ago and got a good battering.

Xbox. In what way am I a liar? Are you saying that Argentina has not defaulted on it's debt? Are you implying that the UK has a poorer credit rating that Argentina? Did Argentina not invade the Falklands in 1982? Did not the UK send you back home crying and defeated?

Oh and Billy, which country was it that allowed the OG to call into port on her way down the Islands? Was it Brazil?

You are not a liar, I mean politicinas, you are just a nobody, the British government doesn't even know that you exist. Go read about the UK's finacial reality.
My country, Beef, will never be given a good credit rating, no matter what we do. That's why I tell you, don't come up with that crap again, it doesn't mean anything. The UK will always receive a good credit rating, no matter what they do. :)

Xbox, Argentina got a poor credit rating because it decided not to pay back what it owed. It did not get it's credit rating because of it's name so you may wish to drop it with the conspiracy theories.

Certain MPs do know me BTW, occupational hazard when you write about healthcare policy.

To be honest I care not for the views of politicians. What matters for me is my family and the fact that I am able to provide a very comfortable life for them due to my successful career (to date anyway). Now depending on how RKH etc do I may spend less time on the career and more time playing football with my 3 rd old.

It's not a conspiracy theory, it's true, Latin America has always been seen as a place full of dirt and low people, many Europeans still think this way about Latin America. And England was and is a favourite in Europe, so don't talk to me about conspiracy theories. And I tell you once again, credit ratings are fictitious ratings, it don't say anything about facts. No matter what we do, we're paying, but still they say we don't want to pay. No matter what we do, it won't change a thing.
if you have a 3 year old boy, then go and play football with him, when I have my own kids I won't waste my time anymore on this bullsh*t. Enjoy your kid ;)

Good to see that the OT's are gaining more prominence. No suggestion that the Government is thinking of giving any of them away :-)

“And I tell you once again, credit ratings are fictitious ratings, it don't say anything about facts.”

Credit rating is usually essential for developing countries in order to access funding in international bond markets. Another common reason for obtaining sovereign credit ratings, other than issuing bonds in external debt markets, is to attract foreign direct investment. To give investors confidence in investing in their country, many countries seek ratings from credit rating agencies like Standard and Poors, Moody's, and Fitch to provide financial transparency and demonstrate their credit standing.

It has a very real effect on a nation.

This is always an interesting forum, and a chance to kick the UK Government into shape over its responsibilities the OT's. A meeting with a royal has been part of the agenda for some years, and whilst essentially just a piece of ceremony, is greatly appreciated by the attendees, since the Queen is Head of State.

I will be interested to see the “new Strategy”, and surprised if it is not the old strategy with this weeks date on it, built on the common bases of human rights and respect for law and good governance. All OT's have the right to remain as part of the Crown if they so wish, or become independent if that is their choice ( a concept not well understood in some quarters called self determination). Bermuda will probably go one day, but has regularly voted against politicians attempts to take then into independence.

There is supposed to be a review of the White Paper on the OT's, but don't hold your breath. With a few tweaks the old one is OK.

    JustinKuntz is African????? :-)
Nico if you read his post at#24, all I see are Chagossians expelled from their homeland by racists Brits like they did in Malvinas, Justino was probabaly an undercover spy that went there to undermined the return of this poor people to their island.

    Racists? Ah ok the Brits

“Like the Falklanders, the Chagossians were approximately two thousand in number. Unlike the Falklanders, they were dark skinned and not of British ancestry- they were the descendants of the African slaves and Indian workers who had been brought to the islands in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to labour on the coconut and copra plantations; and unlike the Falklanders, the perceived strategic interest of the British state lay not in keeping them in their homes but in expelling them from their homes. In the early 1970s, having accomplished the programme of cleansing the land from its population, Britain made good on a deal which it had negotiated with the United States of America, and the USA began constructing its naval and air force base on the largest of the Chagos islands, Diegio Garcia; by which the United States has since maintained its strategic command of the Indian Ocean”

I was about 2 when the Chagos Islands were cleared of their inhabitants to make way for an American base to support the Vietnam War. About 15 years ago I joined a group campaigning for their repatriation when I found out about the terrible injustice they had suffered.

In actual fact, the colour of their skin made little difference. The FCO at the time would equally happily have sold the Falkland Islanders out and in fact did when the FCO colluded with Argentine Governments to arrange dependence upon Argentina. That the Falkland Islanders managed to mount a credible defence is to their credit, not the colour of their skin.

The fact that you make it an issue of skin colour merely demonstrates how your mind works. For those interested I happen to be in a photo taken I believe at the demonstration when the Blair Government did a cowardly act and made two Orders-in-Council to counter-mand the victory in the High Court in 2000. The fight for justice continues. (I'm the handsome white haired chap in profile).

In actual fact, Margot cares not a jot for the islanders, its simply a device to hurl abuse for him.

This comment goes to the Forum Moderator.
You sent to my e-mail box a few e-mails explaining the reasons why you removed my comment. I understand. Now, I want to ask you again, what do you think about comments posted by Typhoon. Are misogynistic comments like # 35 allowed in this forum? You deleted comments posted by Marcos Alejandro, Nico, those comments were not racist at all. I'm a guy who believes in freedom of speech, but I don't consider freedom of speech those comments posted by the hateful misogynist Typhoon. I don't know what the problem between Typhoon and women is, I would hazard a guess, but that's not important now. I really ask you to read the comments posted by Typhoon and decide what to do. Why do you remove comments that are not insulting and don't remove comments like 35? I thought that this randomness only could happen in www.lanacion.com.ar, there you get your comments removed for any reason, depending on the mood of the moderator. I hope this is not the case. Do you consider that the word “whore” is a compliment? Will you call that your own mother, or sister, or your wife, or girlfriend?

    Thanks,
    V/R

The only racist here its the person who assumed that asking if he was African has connotation to some ethnic group. As he could be a white SA.

This its just ridiculous because most of the comments made from some prospects are clear based on ethic, gender.

OK the comments that were deleted and that have totally derailed this topic, were naked racist insults concerning some of the people in that picture. I for one applaud the Mercopress moderator for deleting them.

I now see that they were a deliberate agent provocateur, with the aim of claiming Mercopress was biased, when in reality they were sensibly applying their rules to remove racist crap.

They're furthering this by claiming something completely different to what was said. Its precisely this sort of nonsense that cause fewer and fewer people comment here. Having been unable to win the debate through the strength of their arguments, they now resort to type and flood the forums with nonsense to drown out what they don't want to hear.

Pathetic really, like a child shoving its fingers in its ears and chanting “I can't hear you”.

I don't envy the moderators but I do thank Mercopress for their efforts.
