Mujica calls on other Latinamerican countries to join Mercosur

Uruguayan president Jose Mujica called on the Mercosur summit for a quick incorporation of Venezuela as full member of the group and said it was time the rest of Latin America moved closer to the integration process. Read full article

    I love an optimist .............. and Uruguay the only democracy in the whole bunch !

    According to the latest Economist list at least. Interesting that Argentina comes in as a 'failed' democracy at 51st, behind Brazil at #47. Venezuela can't even make that list at 96th and listed as a 'hybrid regime'.

    Cuba, who apparently Mercosur wish to join, comes in at 121st and listed as an 'authoritarianregime'.

    Banana Republics and Dictatorships .... with Uruguay as the shining light.

    Jose Mujica would be better off courting the Falkland Islanders as partners, as they are a lot closer politically :-)
