FALKLAND Islands Tourist Board statistics showed a 90% satisfaction rate yesterday on the busiest day ever in Stanley’s cruise ship visitor history. Read full article
They should use those bored to death tourists to locate Marine Alan Addis, believed to have been killed by locals, who then burned his body and dumped his remains in a shallow grave.
You know ex-brain, if i thought you had any wit or intelligence, id have laughed out loud at the reply you just gave, as it seemed hilariously ironic, but i think all you've done is prove how much of prat you are, well done that man.
Must still be the macho element creeping into Argentine society, along with all the corruption, thieving, violence, crime, drug taking, lying, and whining that is normal for folk there.
xbolloc must think that was THE worst ever insult 'in World's history', what a plank.
The jealousy of some people here is sickening...
This is something really nice to read and there're always some idiots who come and say something inappropiate just because they live in a poor and corrupt country and don't like seeing other nations being successful.
Seriously guys, if you don't have something nice to say you should STFU and GTFO.
#14 the problem is that some retards here think Malvinas Argetine is a nation but there is no nation just an Argentine Island the same with a few other island occupied by british illegal aliens. we have the same problem in america with Mexicans who cross the border and take USA jobs, there is always two sides to a story, the problem is that none of them want to see the other side, I guess by now you know exacly what I mean.
I(diot) - the Falkland Islands are not a nation ..... yet! For now they are a part of a nation ... the United Kingdom. They have never been a part of your nation. What the future holds is up to the islanders .... no-one else!!
Funny that the only countries which claim the Falklands are part of Argentina are Latin American ones eh I? Does anybody else say they are an integral part of the republic?....... nope....not even the UN.
Illegal aliens.....must be the oldest illegal aliens on the planet, 180 years I.... isn't that quite a bit beyond the average human life expectancy ya fanny?
Heres another one....what do you call white people in south and North America...illegal aliens no less?
Well done Dumbkampf with such idiotic logic you've just de-legitimized your own right of existance in America!
Now for something positive....
Good on the Falklands show casing what they have to offer to the world...the futures looking bright :)
Great comment from Marcos, the guy with a Spanish name at #3. When are you Spanish Argies going to trawl up the remains of the people you pushed out of aircraft (alive) into the Atlantic?
believed to have been killed by locals, who then burned his body and dumped his remains in a shallow grave.
Believed, nothing found & nothing proven, eitherway 1 in 20 years + I think is a pretty good record.
Amazing how off topic and low you'll go to rake up dirt.
” The results of a study carried out by The Latin American Technological Information Network (RITLA) have shown that the region has the highest murder rates in the world for people aged between 15 and 24.
Among the findings, published in November, RITLA concluded that the murder of a young person in Latin America is 30 times more probable than in Europe and 70 times more probable than in countries like Greece, Hungary and the UK.”
@3 - Marco
If that was a murder (I say if because it was never proved), that would be how many murders in the 2 hundred years the Falklands has been around? Not many, probably less that the number murdered in BA on one day. But how would you class the murders at Port Louis? As the murderers were from Argentina??? Therefore the majority of murderers in the Falklands have come from Argentina. Coincedence? Nah, I dont think so!
Marco, you really are grasping at straws. It is easy to see the desperation in your words! Please continue to make a fool out of yourself. Until the next time Marco!
#16 you are right not a nation just a company , I am glad we are getting somewhere, now Luis Vernet was the governor of Malvinas in 1833 when illegal aliens arrived from UK in Malvinas as far as I know illegal aliens don't have any legitimate right to the land, they have the right of determination wich mean they can determine if they want to go back to UK or apply for an Argentine citizenship, or just get a 3 month visa that is how things are done in this side of the world. if you don't like it you are free to go back home, that is how your rothers in USA treat Mexicans, what's the matter are you too good to be treated the same ??
#17 I think UK prime minister said UN was irrelevant and I agrees, doesn't matter what they say, or do you live your life in fear of what people say ?
#18 the same day UK asks us for the kelpers who will one day join them.
#19 we don't eat meat because we can afford meat, beside fish is for pirats. http://www.independent.ie/farming/news-features/rocketing-south-american-beef-prices-seem-too-good-to-be-true-but-its-great-for-us-while-it-lasts-2508973.html
#20 if you are between 15 and 24 why don't you come to Latinamerica and save tax payers in your area the waste in public utility you have become ? if I had that data about the people I stole land from I wouldn't stay in their land, if they do this things you pointed out to themselves imagine when they get a hold of you and your family ?? I guess some people like sleeping with one eye open.
24 saphira (#)
Congratulation! his answer was bit intelligent. Everyone knows that the Malvinas were and are taken by Pirates since 1833 and is a reality, and we want the islands back to Argentina.
#24 I don't think Mexican are nonesense, they are the example of how the egnlish culture deals with illegal aliens, I can find some resent examples from UK, I don't think this treatment of new comers is how USA was created, but now the jig is up and I don't want my children to be treated like a Mexican when and if they choose to visit or live in Malvinas.
It's alright I. There''s no difficulty about how your children will be treated in the Malvinas. That's because there's no such place. Whatever you ignorant dagos want to call our territory. And they won't be allowed there anyway. The ecology of the Falkland Islands is very important. No sense in letting bacteria in!
Ok, ok... seems like there're nitpickers too... and don't like seeing a self governed British overseas territory being successful does this sound better?...
#27 Ehhh... no :/ There were British, French and Spanish settlements before 1833, though the French had to leave because, according to the Treaty of Tordesillas, Falklands belonged to Spain. Before leaving, the British left a plaque to affirm their claim and so did the Spaniards. I don't see this as Pirates stole our islands they just came back. Don't say 'everyone'...
Bleh... I'm tired of this... All the Argentines can recite their arguments to claim the islands, I just have two words to say acquisitive prescription, and don't come and say that the British didn't take the islands pacifically... that's a lie.
#25 Argentines don't eat fish becase they can afford meat.
#28 everyone is any citizens of a legitimate state, excluding colonies, illegaly occupied territories, illegal aliens, squatters, pirats, child molesters and perverts, in latinamerica this means everyone, In UK ? ho well! I can understand how confusing it must be for you I am sorry.
#30 The problem is that the bacteria is already in Malvinas Argentina, now Argentina needs to get this filth out, didn't BP tought retards anything ?? I was almost sure UK university had a better education system then Argentina, goes to prove that I am humble enought to admit I am wrong about somethings.
Despite heavy rain and an overlapping visit of three large vessels in one day, carrying approximately 6000 passengers, this is just the start of a booming industry, how long before other south american countries realisethey may have supported the wrong side and start to jump on the band wagon. then even more will come to visit, the skys the limit,
carry on falklands- carry on ?
#31 apparently my question in thread #23 was not if you thought my comment was nonsense but if you are too good to be treated like Mexicans ?? your respose was nonesense.
#34 yes you made a really good observation, I hate them with a passion, why do you ask ? are you a child molester spokesperson ?? I was not aware they had a british rep.
o yes I forgot the musician gary glitter.
I - hate to do this. Really do! Think, I know that you know that I shouldn't...but!...
I, what on earth are you on about with the Falkland Islands Company?
Do you honestly think that that the FIC is the governing body of the Falkland Islands?
Do you have any idea about what constitutes the Government of a nation? Do you have any idea about what makes up a Constitutional Monarchy? Do you have any idea what the difference is between a monarchy and a repbulic? A republic and democracy? Democracy and communism?
You, gassy, have proved your ineptness.
Think, please tell all of us, Brits and Argentines, that this guy, I, is well worth the entrance money for taking the piss out of...! Not that he is worth answering!
#37 Answering I ? you did!
the question is can you tango ?
It's clear that wasting any breath with you could be considered a sin, I'll make it short and sweet to fit a retarded attention span.
WHATEVER UK IS SELLING !!
ARGENTINA IS NOT BUYING ??
I - I have never answered you personally, because you are an absolute twat; who doesn't have a clue about the real Falkland Islands. You are what I would call a pillock, an arsehole, an I-haven't-got-a-clue-what-I'm-on-about, tosser!
And that's polite!
You go on about the Falkland Islands Company as if that is the governmental body. Do you really think that the FIC is the governmental body of the Falkland Islands? Or are you really as stupid as you seem?
I'm waiting with baited breath...dumb ass!!
Err no! Falklanders...no. England , hell yeah! Any idea what we're on about? Sevens...? Yes, we're on about sevens. World Cup Sevens? Kiwi's are winning. Don't like it! Scream for the Poms...!
At the end of the day, we cant help being British , the best and on the wining side,
and you cant help being Argentinean [illegal operators] and on the losing side,
and of course the Falklands are British, [are you jealous ? ]
@ I (no. 23)
I am home. The Falklands is my home. I was born here, and 6 generations of my family before me. My family has deeper roots in the Falklands than yours in Argentina, and with this in mind, you are telling me to get out of the Falklands because it belongs to people like you...? I wonder if your family has been in Argentina for more than 7 generations, if not, I have stronger and deeper roots in South America than you.
Come back to me and the rest of the Meropress commenters when you have a proper arguement, other than the laughable arguements you already present.
I.... arquero.....I admire your willingness to have a go in another language, but sadly, I don't understand what you're saying.
Especially this one ^..........no, still no idea :-S
I came to the conclusion after your first few posts on Mercopress that you were an idiot. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your repeated confirmation of that conclusion.
Xbox - in relation to behaving like a sissy. Who was it that surrendered in 1982?
I - how are your plans for an Argie-Russian-Sino invasion of the Falkland Islands going? By the signs of my University campus yesterday it is clear that China wouldn't want to harm it's relations with the UK. Can't wait for my companies to sell any oil that emerges from the FI. And the best thing is that Argentina is powerless to stop it.
#37 Answering I ? you did! Is that Yoda? You know this idiot lives in Canada, Canada! What a retard.
I have not been commenting because I am tired of talking to idiots, yes that is you I, Marcos, Nico and even El Thicko. But I have been reading and laughing at them none the less.
They don't learn, they live in a dream world where Argentina is as rich, developed and as powerful as the UK and USA. If they are that dumb I can't be bothered even trying to stir them up any longer it is boring.
Anyway I will lurk around and maybe post again someday.
Good Luck my Falklander Friends, know that you have a lot of support in the USA we will never let you down, even if we have a stupid President now and again.
Cheers!
49 Marcos Alejandro
Thanks for that Marcos, very funny. I think you should all be very afraid. And I hope that the guy in the posing pouch had plenty of factor 50 on his pink bits!
#50 --that is to say you have secret service &army friends
becouse that Falklander Friends are almost at all secret service&army.

#45 means that ---congratulations !
these all ~50 trashy comments by this article moved up to
**most commented column right side**on this page..
Fido- they come from all over. that day the majority were from US, 2nd biggest was UK and then everywhere including over 100 from Argentina - and it may surprise you to know that even they get the same polite service and treatment - so long as they dont act silly and very few ever do.
It depends on the ship, and where it advertised. eg a few days before the British flagged and registered P&O Aurora on a world cruise was in - 90% of the 900 odd were British- oh MartinFierro and the S-American blockade, she sailed here straight from Buenos Aires by the way. Others that come from Ushuaia and then to the Antarctic and advertise in Germany - naturally most will be Germans. If USA - then mostly Americans aboard etc.
#40pom pom did I sound interested in a birtish firm names fakland island company ?? if UK wants it they can take it home, what part of that did you not understand ?? Argentina wants nothing to do with fakland and their undocumented workers, I agree with UK and the british colonists, you are british, go home to your queen, Malvinas Argentina is not for squatters.
#43 Why jealous ?? I have my visa to travel into and out of Canada I don't have to fight my status or legitimazy with any third world country everyday I read the news, it's my option to come and makes comments here not the only choice I have, jealous ? LOL
#44 do I seem interested in your roots ?? I dont remember asking, what part of ARGENTINA IS NOT BUYING did you not get son ? Argentina doesn't want anything with falkland island company, we have a few Island Malvinas, Argentina illegaly occupyed by self proclaimed british subjects, and undocumented workers are not welcome in America neither are they wanted in UK, take a look. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/dale-farm-the-battle-to-save-britainrsquos-biggest-traveller-community-2196331.html
#46 morons don't understand any language, maybe you should try your spanish that way you wouldn't complain about my english or lack off, something tells me you are the type who spits up and aginst the air, wipe your face.
#47 Argentina is a democracy and even if you are wrong your are entitled to your opinion, how ever it's your opinion, I don't have to like it, I don't really care nor did I ask for it, about you tell that to someone who might care ??? tipycal british coustume to get their nose in where they are not wanted, you are still a brit clearly another illegal alien in Islas Malvinas Argentina, if you have no green card you shouldn't even be here, give me your name I'll make sure you are put in front of the desaparecidos list when we take back Islas Malvinas Argentina.
#48 you mean Islas Malvinas right ? find the oil, we need a lure.
I - need a lure? The only thing Argentina needs is Prozac and a dose of reality. If we find more oil then great, there is nothing you can do either way.
You are not going bad in the seven's. But this afternoon, the hottest game and Argentina (Islas Malvinas Argentina too) between England. Probably the worst afternoom for you pom's. After the game we will talk more of the score! Good Luck Pom
#57 you are right there is nothing we need to do the world is conditioned to need that oil disperately some time in the next decade, and we have enought time to figure out a way to draw a nuclear deffence program into Argentina from any overpopulated nuclear power, I heard the meat prices are sky rocketing and soy is sky high, pretty soon hungry people will trade anything even nukes for a loaf of bread, does Egypt ring any bell ??
#59 how does zero oil production in Islas Malvinas Argentina sounds ?? with mr darwin cliftom I am sure he will get your money while you are here crying to Argentines. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/dale-farm-the-battle-to-save-britainrsquos-biggest-traveller-community-2196331.html
I was under the impression that theft was the secret to UK success.
#61 why bother drilling for oil when we have brits doing it for us ?? now that would be really stupid, in the end when the price hit 150$ a barrel, I am sure Russia and China will both want a part in Malvinas Argentina, drill drill drill we need a lure, quit wasting time writing in here.
Rotten! Rotten! Grumpy,
Please! I told you before! stop drinking whiskey, you're sick, man!
I have told you that everyone nnows that were and are the Malvinas Argentinas Islands taken by Pirates Since 1833. Please try to enjoy your fantastic uk, taking a moderate Scotish whiskey, and do not complain of Argentina and the Argentine. Look a bit more Uk who have enough problems to be reviewing the Argentine. Or at least talk some football, Tevez that is breaking into the English League! seven s, etc.Grumpy
Kiwi - posts should be in English, try harder next time.
I - why would Russia be interested? They are an oil exporter with new pipelines going to China. Why would China be interested? They buy oil from Russia, will be buying oil from Mongolia in the next few years. Neither of these nations care about Argentina or it's delusional claims. If oil production does emerge from the Falkland Islands then it may go to China by te fact that they purchase it with royalties and taxes going to the FIG.
Russia and China see links with the UK as far more important and my visits to both of these nations has not made me think otherwise.
I, you are good entertainment, bit like a clown really.
I will man,no worries!!! well, well, I've found another grumpy vinegar in Mercopress!! my comments was so polite, old vinager. just relax you too, enjoy for a while to the Islas Malvinas!! Marcos the Cohiba's cigar is coming.!!
back from the base and you are still at it, mmmmmmmmmm
the news has just stated that birds eye, [company to you argies]
sold over 150 billion fish fingers last year, what this to do with you argies,
not much, but you will find something ?
Read it again TIT ... not a surprise to our Government as it was discussed first, and all Russia is getting is the serial numbers as they show up for maintenance ..... it'll take them years to work out the UK's arsenal which , in any case, is due to changed.
Hahahaha, it's so you to pretend everything is fine, they love us still, etc. It's like a fragile battered woman clinging to a time her hubby was not that terrible. :)
Oh, and the your missiles' serial numbers were passed to Russia WITHOUT your government's permission. Someone more patriotic than you would probably feel at the very least slighted at this.
No - read it AGAIN TIT - the yanks discussed giving precise numbers of warheads to the Russians and it was that that did not receive permission from
the British Government!
As for 'slighted' ... well being thin skinned appears to be a Latin problem, not an English one. Which rather explains a lot!
... The Latin temperament is “Hot,” wide eyed and accentuated with drama, which makes pouring a cup of coffee feel like a grand finale ...
Oh, some wikileaks novelties on Argentina. I... couldn't... care... less.
As for this:
No - read it AGAIN TIT - the yanks discussed giving precise numbers of warheads to the Russians and it was that that did not receive permission from
the British Government!
No, but as I said, they did give the missiles' serial numbers - something that, according to Professor Malcolm Chalmers “appears to be significant and over time, the unique identifiers will provide [Russia] with another data point to gauge the size of the British arsenal.
And hey, don't shoot the messenger. Those are not my words.
As for oversensitivity being a Latin problem: well, have you seen how your countrymen are reacting to the news on the Telegraph website? This is how:
what happened to our special relationship then ?
Past time for the so called Special Relationshipto be finally buried. Just look back to the US position when the Falklands war broke out.................who needs Friends like those running the USA.
Enoughs' enough .. We are daily spending millions and losing lives supporting the Americans in their ill found ventures in Irak and now Afghanistan .. All because Bush wanted to kick asses after 7/11 .. leave our so called two timing US 'friends' to it and use the money to take care of our own country !”
you are still a brit clearly another illegal alien in Islas Malvinas Argentina, if you have no green card you shouldn't even be here, give me your name I'll make sure you are put in front of the “desaparecidos list” when we take back Islas Malvinas Argentina.
Helloooo! anyone in there I?
Green card? I was born here mate and my British passport seems to be acceptable to all the authorities who've seen it (even Argentinian ones) but what the hell?....if you really want to believe in your little fantasy about us being illegal aliens then you should lobby your government to evict us, or if they can't do that (which they can't) then you'd better take your case to an international court....I'll wait for the summons I(mbecile).
BTW I understand that there is an Argentine clerk in some Patagonian
shithole who purports to be the governor of the Malvinas, maybe you should take your complaint to them. I'm sure they'll take information about illegal aliens really seriously...
;-)
... over time ... , .. appears to be ... - Yeah right TIT, mountains out of molehills :-)
The relationship goes through ups and downs, but it'll do....... makes us strong and you weaker ! Second rate banana republics .... hardly worth the effort!
You work on your special relationships with your neighbours and we'll work on ours ... the difference is ... ours count :-)
75 lsolde, I'm glad that you like that clip at #49, the soldier with the Redunderwear is our famous commetator Redhoyt
70 Forgetit87 , Very interesting article.
The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose
The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”
Well, if you consider that Obama sent bust of Winston Churchill back to Britain and his grandfather was tortured by the British that may explain that his Gov. doesn't care much about that special relationship”.
The relationship goes through ups and downs, but it'll do....... makes us strong and you weaker !
Yeah, I can see how strong the UK will be after Russia gets to know more about your nuclear arsenal with US help. And yes, red ho, the whole world can see how precious and useful the special relationship is... to the US. Even the conservative Telegraph concludes that the relationship is shown often to be a one-sided affair on the US diplomatic cables published thus far. That somehow you can still come up with excuses to dismiss US treachery illustrates something that is well-known about the UK: and this is not British people's composure; it's UK politicians' poodle syndrom. :)
And btw, banana republics are small countries that are susceptible to being bossed around by greater powers. (Menachem Begin, a former Israel PM, once stood up to Reagan's demanding requests by saying that Israel is not a banana republic.) So you should revisit the question of who really is a banana republic (or monarchy): independent, nationalistic South American nations or... you.
American comment on that Telegraph article:
You see America, this is what angry british peasants think of you...They sold you out and released the terrorist that blew up panam 103 for oil contracts and now you're stooping and bowing, like morons when they are paid back for it?
We have nothing in common with these bitter, depressed, racist, drunks...they cant even get along with each other much less anyone else. The UK is dead weight, the US does not gain anything by an alliance with this miserable welfare state, Obama did the right thing.
The UK is a failed empire that gains everything and gives nothing from a relationship with the United States.
Thank god we finally have a president that's smart enough to do the right thing.
Good Luck, Britain.
Wow! Thank God that these two countries have a Special relationship
Marcos - in case you haven't noticed the UK has given the US a lot of support after 9/11! More than any other nation in fact. How many Argies are fighting against the Taliban in Afghanistan?
Regarding your assumption that the UK is a failed empire. If this was the case then why was the British Empire the largest empire to ever exist? Why cannot Argentina get it's grubby hands on a group of Islands a few hundred miles of it's coast. Why is Argentina powerless to stop the oil exploration?
Marcos - put your money where your mouth is and do something. The last time your country did anything sensible was signing a piece of paper in 1982 with the word Surrender written on the top of it.
By the sound of it deposing the UK should be easy for you. Funny that is won't happen.
” ... Banana republic is a term that refers to a politically unstable country dependent upon limited agriculture (e.g. bananas), and ruled by a small, self-elected, wealthy, corrupt politico-economic plutocracy...The purpose of a banana republic is commercial profit by collusion between the State and favoured monopolies, whereby the profits derived from private exploitation of public lands is private property, and the debts incurred are public responsibility..... ”
TIT - I think you should revisit the definition !
MoreCrap - just your typical crap, nothing worthwhile to say!
Returning to the wikileaks story I note the State Department are now denying the story but more impressive is the US press reaction ... very pro-British. No reaction at all from the UKG.
Time will tell ... and in the meawhile, the Falkland Islands are still British and all is well in (our bit of) the world :-)
85 Beef, patience my friend patience after all Malvinas is not moving any closer to UK, 14000 km away, and still in Argentinian waters.
Another American comment:
Thank God the Brits' colonial, land-grabbing days are over. They bequeathed us Iraq, Israel, Pakistan and Afghanistan, just like the French gave us Vietnam. What good was imperialism? I look forward to the day when the only wars we Americans fight are in self-defense
The Brits fighthing in Afghanistan Beef? Oh yes!, four wars in that country...None a victory! Read your own history, the disaster of 1842 and 1880 and so on. And Buenos Aires? another two defeats by your nowadays sinking little empire. Celebrate your oil discovery next week before your economy goes into a free fall.
#85 I have toilet paper worth more then the piece of paper you have, try selling it on e-bay, I think now days you could probably use it to clean your back end and then sell it to the methane industry.
#76 I think Islas Malvinas squaters could end up being treated like your roman gipsy citizens. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/dale-farm-the-battle-to-save-britainrsquos-biggest-traveller-community-2196331.html
we are all watching carefully, you make sure to keep wearing the canadian shirt if you really want to feel safe while you travel again ever. the world is getting smaller and smaller for you, not that it ever was much bigger than Cuba
#89 I am not british.
I - rambling comments again? Nothing constructive to say. I suggest taking your toilet paper and dipping it in water. You can then load this into your catapults. Thus would be an upgrade to your military capacity allowing you to prepare foethe attack on the islands you fantasize about.
Rambling I(diot) - still have no idea what you are trying to say.... stringing coherent words together appears to be a problem. Maybe it the way of argentines ... I was reading an article earlier which siggested that the 1982 war was a NATO conspiracy to get Maggie reelected and secure the Trident missile programme.
#95 shhhhhh britards don't know what it is to comment freely, don't you see ? they all repeat the same BS, even the one liner response tells you they are mostly elementary school drop outs suffering from short attention spam, imagine the rage when you are getting slaped around in your own language by a legitimate citizen of a real country whom you think is iliterate, all I can think is, it must be sad...
@95 OK then genius, what's I talking about in his 'free commentary'? some peculiar, misguided RG take on irony? Indeterminate South American sarcasm? witty political satire?
BTW, for you humourless Argies, that was sarcasm, I'm not expecting a definitive answer. We all already know that what I(mbecile) spouts is witless drivel.
In my official capacity as Rhaurie Craughwell, I declare I to be the successor to Jorge as the official Mercopress jestor, long may his posts demonstrating his chronic mental instability and bizarre logic continue to amuse, horrify and inspire other Malvinists of equally small mental capacity Marcos...cough cough.....
Arquero your a thick inbred twat as well...there numbskull I'm commenting freely with my own opinion...
lets compare quickly....British posters beleive that democracy and human rights and self-determination are the answer to dispute....
Malvinist posters such as yourself continue to deny that the above processes are not applicable in the Falklands.....
I've made my conclusions about which people think more freely nugget!
Rhaurie-Se Cagawell
....British posters beleive that democracy and human rights and self-determination are the answer to dispute
Like the Chagossians?
Another hypocrite English bastard trying to lecture people about Self determination.
The diference is marcos is that every british poster here absolutly and categorically disagrees with what happened to the chagossians and supports there return completely, While all argentinians actively support taking away the islanders human rights, while criticizing us over the Chagossians.
I'd also like to point out(again) that the Chagossians do not have there Self Determination taken from them, it is a different breach in human rights entirely.
It really is about time that people learnt the definition of certan words.
Macros for example, supporting the human rights of islanders being taken away while at the same time going on about giving the Chagossians there human rights and all the time while calling someone else a hypocrite is a massive hypocrisy in itself.
Argentina knows where they can find the WMD, they even stated it to everyone.
“HMS Sceptre, a Swiftsure-class nuclear powered submarine, is said to have been sent from southern Africa to make Argentina think twice about laying serious claims to Malvinas Argentina.”
I, I understand that you are a person of limited intelligence but please, please make more of an effort. HMS Sceptre is a nuclear POWERED submarine. It did not carry nuclear weapons.
OOOOOH! hard man Morecrap flexing his honed keyboard warrior instincts!
Okay more crap....
what are you saying exactly...
That you decry the expelling of the Chagoissians and you support self-determination and democracy?
in that case why are you advocating it over the Falklands...nugget!
Well done Morecrap....now whose the hypocrite...nugget brain :)
I will lecture you about self-determination....because Argentina seemingly thinks it is not applicable to territories she wants.
Self-determination is enshrined in international law (unlike your fantasy law that forbids the Islanders to have a normal economy)....and is applicable to all peoples and territories worldwide.....
Seemingly Argentina has issues with this international human right but only over the Falklands....
which is unsurprising because they stand in the way and are actively preventing Argentina from achieving its cherished goal of southern cone expansion and thus controlling mineral reserves and strategic waterways.....
And this is terribly amusing because Argentina claims to be a great democracy which holds human rights and international human rights and law close to its heart.
And yet this so called democracy in Argentina refuses to acknowledge that people whose society and culture has co-existed and run parallel in terms of democratic and social development to hers....
Are not worthy of recognition in her eyes, for the crime of inhabiting territory that she wants....and wants like a spoilt petulant spiteful child...
The UK with over 1,000 years of political, social and democratic evolution is far better placed to lecture the world about self-determination than a jumped up little republic with delusions about worldwide importance.
Diego Garcia my funny little jestor, you don't care about its people or their plight, only how you can exploit their suffering to get one over the UK posters here. And how you can use it as a blue print for your own morally bankrupt scheme for the Falklands.
102 Marcos Alejandro
I would have thought even you would have had more sense than to bring up the Chagossians again.
You already told us that you think they have rights and we don't because.....why was that? Go on, tell us again.
You are the hypocrite, pal.

Poster No. 104 says:
”The UK with over 1,000 years of political, social and democratic evolution is far better placed to lecture the world about self-determination than a jumped up little ………..
Think says:
It took the UK 1.000 years of political, social and democratic evolution to find out that they are better that anyone else and maylecture anybody?...
So much for British: “Political, Social and Democratic Evolution” then!
Sounds much more as Nietzsche’s “Ûbermensch” ramblings to me….. ……
you cannot keep bringing up the past all the time, just how far would you wish to go back to, monkey falling out of trees perhaps,
1066,,,1807,,1982,, the past is the past, for only you today can change the future, and if you truly believe in democracy then the Falklands will remain British until they [if ever] change their minds, but if you insist on me me me all the time Argentina will get no where at all,
I(diota) - yes, the Falkland islands are still British, yes, there is still oil and, yes, we are talking although not all of us are making sense ...... I
#114 did you see the game lastnight 2-1 Argentina Brazil, good game and even better second goal, Brazil also played good they had a fast offencive, the handball by the golley almost costed Argentina the game. among other things Cuba and Mexico get over 10.000 visitor in a day during peak seasons, I guess attracting 6000 tourists in an illegal alien colony is a good thing, it should be headline news to the new lows of the planet, if things keep going this way Egypt, UK and saudi arabia could be taken down by their own people soon.
Do Cuba and Mexico manage to attract twice their total population in a day during peak season? no, of course not, that's why this is newsworthy I(diot) you complete plank.
“The UK with over 1,000 years of political, social and democratic evolution is far better placed to lecture the world about self-determination than a jumped up little republic with delusions about worldwide importance”
And I say huahaaaaa haha haha haha haa ha
Britain is a new thing in this world you forgot about the Greeks, Romans, Spanish, Germans, French, etc. Older than you in fact you become civilized after the Exercitus Romanorum (Roman Army) from Spain conquered you and bring to Grande Britannia, parliament, roman common law, bath, Christianity, alphabet, drains, aqueducts, etc, etc, etc.
I just wonder where is the worldwide importance of UK on these days, any road map please?
And don’t ask for Scotland, Wales, etc.
1-Well let’s see a nation that fails docking her frigate in Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela, due to Argentina diplomacy in the region.
2- Members of her own commonwealth supporting and voting for Argentina against her influential power.
3- Member of EU with same status of influence as Spain or Portugal.
4- Her best loving ally with special relationship that makes “Hombrito” shoulders up and say Malvinas, Malvinas, well you are on your own mate is not our problem, try with the Argies.
5- Its supposed best ally US calling France the strong ally and strong Friend in Europe.
Britain is a new thing in this world you forgot about the Greeks, Romans, Spanish, Germans, French, etc. Older than you in fact you become civilized
///////////////
Im afraid you are wrong here old chap.
Germany was not unified until the late 19th century,
France , the Romans went through Gaul not France, and again we were invaded by Normans years later, not the French, France thus did not exist at that date, who’s next ah the Spanish, yes you got this one right in part, before it was invaded by the Goths and vandals and then the moors, so I will give you that one,
As for the Romans and Greeks you are right again, but your point is irrelevant, you forgot
Egypt Babylon and a few others from the past, and even Ethiopia but the fact remains that great Britain, or Britannica [that’s what the Romans called the islands] , is still over 2,000 years old, and Argentina is still under 150 years old, so your whole point is thus irrelevant,
But keep trying,
....FALKLANDS oil explorer ROCKHOPPER was on the move yesterday amid talk of a second discovery in the South Atlantic. Shares climbed 12.87p to 386.87 ...
From what source do you get your historical information? Daily Mirror perhaps?
Enlighten me please what political entity known as the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” existed 1000 years ago? This is the real name of your nation if you are not aware of. Do you?
What democracy was in Great Britain 1000 years ago?
None, mate is just a new thing like Argentina with 210 years of history since its creation in 1801 through the Acts of Union 1800/1801.
Great Britain is not the same as what actually is today UK of GB and Northern Island. Like England or Scotland or Wales is not the same as UK or UKGBNI.
So to be right you have to take the last new political entity if you want to compare UK and Argentina or whatever other modern nation, Newbie!.
Or we have to go to the times of the Ostrogoten (Germanic population with traced documentation since 100BC) The Tobas, The Francos, The Gauls, etc.
And what is a Briton after all?
Easy a Spanish/Gallego mixed with Italians who speaks funny old French/Spanish and thinks he is German. Pretty Latin for my taste. Don’t you think so?
@126 Nico, bit of a history buff are you, Nicholas? so we've got Spanish in our makeup? that makes you & us related then? so we do own Argentina as well as the Falklands? well you just look after it for us while we decide what to do with it. one thing for sure, we're not letting an idiot like senoritoI back into our country!
@ lsolde
I don’t know what make you think that I’m Spanish to start with or that we Argies are Spanish????
We speak Spanish but not necessary means that all have Spanish ancestors. And the big migration of Spanish speaker here was from Galicia (Gallegos or Gaelic Celtic population from Northern Spain relatives of the Scots and Irish 70% of the total Iberian Peninsula descendent stock) Basque (They are not Spanish 10 % of the total population) Catalonia (They don’t consider themselves Spanish) none of then is Spanish as an Scottish is not English either.
My father is Briton-Romanus, Red said...
Your father is Spanish - Romanus the guru said...
My father is Briton- Romanus repeated Red...
Your father is Spanish -Romanus, but the husband or your mother is Briton-Romanus the guru says.
Hahah haha
There is not any 2000 years of British’s history
The unification of kingdoms what after become England started after the domination of the Romans around 500 to 850 The Dark Ages and the period of unification of the seven kingdoms until the invasion of the Norman in 1066.
And the Romans troops killed most of the population there and most of them escaped to what is today Scotland, Wales, Ireland, etc.
As you can see no Great Britain or UK, etc Great Britain and not United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, started in 1701 with the unification of the Kingdoms of Scotland and England.
So as I said before “British” modern use of the word is new as the Argentinean otherwise Argentineans would have more than 5000 years of history because aborigine here can be traced even further.
Britain as Argentineans are made up of migrants and some little remaining mixed population of aborigines. May be you are referring to the history of Pakistan, India, Nigeria, etc what I’m not sure but may be you are right African and Asian populations are very old indeed.
DIMwit - ” ... Britain had long enjoyed trading links with the Romans. Julius Caesar of the Roman Republic attempted to invade twice in 55 BC; although largely unsuccessful, he managed to set up a client king from the Trinovantes ( ...one of the tribes that lived in pre-Roman Britain) .....
... However, with the Roman conquest of Britain the Latin term Britannia was used for the island of Great Britain .....
... DNA analysis attests that three quarters of Britons share a common ancestry with the hunter-gatherers who settled in Atlantic Europe during the Paleolithic era ....
... Beaker culture arrived around 2500 BC, introducing drinking and food vessels constructed from clay, as well as vessels used as reduction pots to smelt copper ores. It was during this time that major Neolithic monuments such as Stonehenge and Avebury were constructed ....”
2000 years ................ PLUS :-)
Whereas you still seem confused about your parentage, but never mind .... the point is, when Argentina gets some history then maybe it can compete with the big boys :-))
@129. Nico, l never said that you were Spanish, but l was under the impression that most of you Argentines were of Spanish & ltalian decent.
not that l care. Anyway l read that most Europeans are decended from just a very small group of cavepeople, seven to be precise. (how they know this l don't know!) so way back, we are all related.
-what l said in post #127 was obviously a joke. so don't be so serious, Nicholas.
Are we not all sons and daughters of Eve?
When the Romans arrived to what they called later “Magna Britannia” there was not British else tribal Celtic population.
The commerce/trade in the island was created by the Romans the city of London was created by them and given that name in honor to a general Romanus called Londinium.
All the habitant there were called Londini (Londinii Urbis).
The place before Romans was called Llyn Din in Gaelic.
The Romans were forbidden in the beginning to mix with local population, The Roman Empire allowed them to bring their families and mix with locals after 5 years of services . Many locals mixed with the troops.
So why you are considering that there were British and you are not considering the Argentineans living here 500 years ago? And the aborigines 5000 years before?
So what is your logic?
If an aborigine Celtic is good to be considered “British” by you, you have to consider a Toba or Mapuche too.
If you take the last legal entity formations (nation formation) like “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” and Argentina we have close the same history 200 years and 210.
So newbie you are so young in this world to talk about history, you still don’t know yours very well I guess. Read the docs of your Oxford uni where all is well documented there.
@Isolde
Having a Spanish surname doesn’t mean that you are Spanish.
Britain is full of Spanish, French, Italians, Polish, Russians, etc. surnames.
Lamont (ex chancellor of exchequer french/italian), Portillo (journalist former MP Spanish), Roberts (Spanish), Cameron (Spanish), and the list is huge, etc.
You really are thick, DIM ... now refer back to my entry that started this ... in fact, don't bother ... I'll repeat it - ... DIM's splitting hairs, he knows full well that our islands can trace their history back 2000 years, whereas he's struggling to identify his father ...
Please point out where I use the word 'Great' or indeed 'Britain'. What I said was ' our islands can trace their history back 2000 years'.
Before you get into splitting ahirs DIM .... learn to read :-)
@132Nico, the whole world is mixed, maybe nature's way of making the human race strong.and all of this is very nice and l enjoy history, but its got very little to do with us owning the Falkland lslands and you wanting them.
Sure Robby as you believe that Malvinas are British, all twisted.
The Roberts surname comes from Robert, Roberto, Roperto, Ruperto, Rubert and all these are the latinization of Hrodberht (Berht: brilliant, bright or illuminati and Hrod: Glory, glorious) in reality is a name coming from Germanic root introduced in Lombardy (Northern Italy).
Where the Germans make incursions and dominate this part of the Roman Empire.
In fact Lombardy, most of the population is from Germanic origin.
Then name went into France, Catalonia (part of Spain) Spain and Normandy then the name went into Britannia.
May be you are from some Spanish branch from the Frankish Robertians (Roberto el Fuerte aka Robert the Strong) when they took over Terragona (Spain) or from Northern Italy who knows.
In Wales the surnames as Robert turns into Roberts due to the “S” added in the end like in Jones, Edwards, etc. a very common practice in Wales like the drop of the B in Bowen (son of Owen) and turn into Owen.
Here your coat of Arms of your family in Catalonia http://www.armoria.info/libro_de_armoria/ROBERT.html
Haha
Roberto, all Welsh surnames were taken from continental Europe, biblical names or introduced by Norman who took those names from Latinization of names from other part may be from what is today Spain, France, Italy, Germany, etc. and then turned into surnames.
You are funny really mate.
“What you have proved with you links there is that most Argentines are of immigrant descent. The same for the Falkland Islanders...”
Really, Roberto? The same? None is claming to be part of France, or Italy or Germany and they are not squatters they are Argentineans now. Quite different don’t you think so?
Are you really so thick that you like shooting yourself in the foot NicoDim?
Robert is of germanic origin - not Spanish
Roberts is a Welsh surname - not Spanish
Oh and I see you have quietly dropped your claim that Cameron is as Spanish surname. Did you think it was derived from Camarón? You probably did you plonker! You have about as much brain-power as a camarón
The Welsh and Scots are Celtics from the continent coming from France, Iberia, northern Italy, Belgium, etc
Are you getting a road map from where the population of the Britannia were coming from before the Romans appeared there again? Not yet?
The troops used by the Romans to invade Britannia where from Iberia (Spain) most of them Celti Romanus
So as I said before most British have the some Origin as most Italians, French and Spanish.
All your surnames are from the Latinization of names, nicknames, etc.
What do you want to invent?
Its really funny that 10 Germans in Britain turn your language into a Germanic Origin one, while thousand of Celtic Spanish Romans did not influenced over you at all. Even if they were there 500 years and you use the same alphabet, parliament, they type of urbanization, consider you self as par of the western civilization, etc.
Its not amazing how you make up your history like with Malvinas?
How little Wales, where you only can find sheep conquered the wold? Wow! you can write a book with that title mate.
Oh! I have a Swedish neighbour here so Argentineans are son of Odin, and our writing comes from the Runic alphabet.
And Netherlands is part of Argentina as Maxima Zorreguieta is Argentinean
Very easy to do Roberto, you just have showed me the way. haha
By the way where is Wales?
once again, all very interesting, M.Nicholas, and l do like to read about these things, but what has all this got to do with us owning and you wanting (our) Falklands?
@143, lt may not be the 2nd strongest army in the world, Nicolas, but its much, much better than anything that you've got.
who cares what the Americans think? do you?

#14 the problem is that some retards here think Malvinas Argetine is a nation but there is no nation just an Argentine Island the same with a few other island occupied by british illegal aliens. we have the same problem in america with Mexicans who cross the border and take USA jobs, there is always two sides to a story, the problem is that none of them want to see the other side, I guess by now you know exacly what I mean.

Among the findings, published in November, RITLA concluded that the murder of a young person in Latin America is 30 times more probable than in Europe and 70 times more probable than in countries like Greece, Hungary and the UK.”

Therefore the majority of murderers in the Falklands have come from Argentina. Coincedence? Nah, I dont think so!

Feb 04th, 2011 - 11:17 am - Link - Report abuse 0#16 you are right not a nation just a company , I am glad we are getting somewhere, now Luis Vernet was the governor of Malvinas in 1833 when illegal aliens arrived from UK in Malvinas as far as I know illegal aliens don't have any legitimate right to the land, they have the right of determination wich mean they can determine if they want to go back to UK or apply for an Argentine citizenship, or just get a 3 month visa that is how things are done in this side of the world. if you don't like it you are free to go back home, that is how your rothers in USA treat Mexicans, what's the matter are you too good to be treated the same ??

It's alright I. There''s no difficulty about how your children will be treated in the Malvinas. That's because there's no such place. Whatever you ignorant dagos want to call our territory. And they won't be allowed there anyway. The ecology of the Falkland Islands is very important. No sense in letting bacteria in!

Feb 04th, 2011 - 06:15 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I am home.

Feb 04th, 2011 - 07:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I came to the conclusion after your first few posts on Mercopress that you were an idiot. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your repeated confirmation of that conclusion.

Feb 04th, 2011 - 07:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I - how are your plans for an Argie-Russian-Sino invasion of the Falkland Islands going? By the signs of my University campus yesterday it is clear that China wouldn't want to harm it's relations with the UK. Can't wait for my companies to sell any oil that emerges from the FI. And the best thing is that Argentina is powerless to stop it.

Fido- they come from all over. that day the majority were from US, 2nd biggest was UK and then everywhere including over 100 from Argentina - and it may surprise you to know that even they get the same polite service and treatment - so long as they dont act silly and very few ever do.
Feb 04th, 2011 - 09:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0It depends on the ship, and where it advertised. eg a few days before the British flagged and registered P&O Aurora on a world cruise was in - 90% of the 900 odd were British- oh MartinFierro and the S-American blockade, she sailed here straight from Buenos Aires by the way.

#48 you mean Islas Malvinas right ? find the oil, we need a lure.
I - need a lure? The only thing Argentina needs is Prozac and a dose of reality. If we find more oil then great, there is nothing you can do either way.

#61 why bother drilling for oil when we have brits doing it for us ?? now that would be really stupid, in the end when the price hit 150$ a barrel, I am sure Russia and China will both want a part in Malvinas Argentina, drill drill drill we need a lure, quit wasting time writing in here.

Feb 04th, 2011 - 11:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I - why would Russia be interested? They are an oil exporter with new pipelines going to China. Why would China be interested? They buy oil from Russia, will be buying oil from Mongolia in the next few years. Neither of these nations care about Argentina or it's delusional claims. If oil production does emerge from the Falkland Islands then it may go to China by te fact that they purchase it with royalties and taxes going to the FIG.
Russia and China see links with the UK as far more important and my visits to both of these nations has not made me think otherwise.

Read it again TIT ... not a surprise to our Government as it was discussed first, and all Russia is getting is the serial numbers as they show up for maintenance ..... it'll take them years to work out the UK's arsenal which , in any case, is due to changed.

Feb 05th, 2011 - 08:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0As for this:
So much for British cold mindedness.
But then again, wikileaks had already revealed before how insecure the Americans think you are. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8180709/WikiLeaks-Britain-mocked-by-US-over-special-relationship.html

Feb 05th, 2011 - 06:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 070 Forgetit87 , Very interesting article.
Well, if you consider that Obama sent bust of Winston Churchill back to Britain and his grandfather was tortured by the British that may explain that his Gov. doesn't care much about that special relationship”.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/4623148/Barack-Obama-sends-bust-of-Winston-Churchill-on-its-way-back-to-Britain.html
Oops, I guess I got someone nervous. :)
Feb 05th, 2011 - 07:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The relationship goes through ups and downs, but it'll do....... makes us strong and you weaker !
Feb 05th, 2011 - 07:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You see America, this is what angry british peasants think of you...They sold you out and released the terrorist that blew up panam 103 for oil contracts and now you're stooping and bowing, like morons when they are paid back for it?
We have nothing in common with these bitter, depressed, racist, drunks...they cant even get along with each other much less anyone else. The UK is dead weight, the US does not gain anything by an alliance with this miserable welfare state, Obama did the right thing.
The UK is a failed empire that gains everything and gives nothing from a relationship with the United States.
Thank god we finally have a president that's smart enough to do the right thing.
Good Luck, Britain.
Wow! Thank God that these two countries have a Special relationship
So the US stabs the UK in the back, AND Americans still manage to portray themselves as the victims. Gotta love 'em!

Feb 05th, 2011 - 11:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Regarding your assumption that the UK is a failed empire.

The diference is marcos is that every british poster here absolutly and categorically disagrees with what happened to the chagossians and supports there return completely, While all argentinians actively support taking away the islanders human rights, while criticizing us over the Chagossians.

Feb 06th, 2011 - 06:09 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Okay more crap....
what are you saying exactly...

Good try but for doomies.

Feb 10th, 2011 - 04:34 am - Link - Report abuse 0 ...
Feb 10th, 2011 - 10:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0not that l care.
@Redhoyt
Feb 11th, 2011 - 03:19 am - Link - Report abuse 0When the Romans arrived to what they called later “Magna Britannia” there was not British else tribal Celtic population.
@Isolde
6.8 million French (17% of Argies population), 3 millions Germans (7.5%) and half million Irish to name some may be wont agree with you.

@Roberts
Feb 11th, 2011 - 12:25 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Sure Robby as you believe that Malvinas are British, all twisted.

Feb 12th, 2011 - 02:35 am - Link - Report abuse 0Yeah lads the Peruvians also think that Cameron is a Peruvian surname. What can we do?
Apellido Peruanos haha
http://www.deperu.com/apellidos-peruanos/significado.php?AP=1796
The Welsh and Scots are Celtics from the continent coming from France, Iberia, northern Italy, Belgium, etc
Are you getting a road map from where the population of the Britannia were coming from before the Romans appeared there again? Not yet?
Celtic Spanish (Iberians)
http://www.deperu.com/apellidos-peruanos/significado.php?AP=1796
The Celtics in Romagna (Italy) can be traced 400 years BC before the Romans pushed them away.
Galia Cisalpina
http://www.deperu.com/apellidos-peruanos/significado.php?AP=1796
I just wonder what is this?
http://www.deperu.com/apellidos-peruanos/significado.php?AP=1796
