How is it the US can say it is treating Brazil the same as India, when it supported India's UNSC bid and not Brazil's?

“Another point dealt with by Obama was infrastructure. . . .the World Soccer Cup of 2014, . . . and the 2016 Summer Olympics.”

Obama's 'A puppy for Christmas' statement.
Brasil's infrastructure needs are right across a sub-continent, not just in Rio.
Huge cities with exploding populations, no reliable electricity, no sewerage to speak of, no road sub-structure, no building standards, no town planning, no advanced port management systems, pollution, dereliction and jerry-building everywhere.
Even if all prospective oil wealth (including oil revenues from the USA) were spent on infrastructure (and none on Education), it would not be enough to bring the country's infrastructure up to First World standards.

    Expect loans, not gifts;
but expect some loosening of commodity trade embargos/restrictions on Brasilian exports, and many more US scholarships for top-rate Brasilian students.

Like other South American “countries”, Brazil hasn't grown up yet. How could a valid, mature country support the animals of Argentina?

#5 Typhoid fever, also known as typhoid,[1] is a common worldwide illness, transmitted by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with the feces of an infected person.

    Hi Marcus,
yes, puns are good - very English.
You may be making a tyfuss or be feeling a bit choleric.
Typhoon has a different root, and allusions to hurricanes/cyclones are more appropriate; either that or linking with Darkness, Niggers, or Narcissi through Conrad.
Yup, I like crosswords . . . but cross words win turnips.

First, I will reluctantly admit I voted for “Change I Could Believe In”. I regret having done that. Obama is a Manchurian President: a fraud, a lier, a betrayer, a puppet of the Oligarchs, etc., etc. His pronouncements are not to be believed. His promises are not to be believed. His smile is not to be believed.

Bush wouldn't even have shown his face in South America at this point. It's easy to criticize Obama when it was Bush that f@cked up the US so badly, and everything else he could manage to f@ck up.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Obama but you people are being incredibly stupid and hypocritical.

It would be like blaming Raul Alfonsin after the junta dictatorship, or the K's after Menem. Destroy a country then blame it on whoever comes next to pick up the the pieces.

    Whatever...

Martin, that's an illusion. It's not only bush who f$cked up his own nation. You have to go back in time when the Federal Reserve was created and when the US unplugged the dollar from the gold standerd. Today, the US is being f*cked up faster by Lawyers, Lobbiest and kool aid drinkers like Geotard who believe in the bogus left and right nonsense and continue to believe that the US is a “first world nation”.

Reality is, Obama is a joker, the US is a banana republic and the people in the US are brain dead. How sad isn't that.

Yes they are very much brain dead, I've heard the most ridiculous statements from Americans about... well just about anything, they are completely ignorant.

And yes, I live in the US.

I once told a 'college educated' individual that certain areas in Argentina were terribly cold, I actually had to explain to him that the Earth had two ice caps, one at each pole, just so he could grasp the concept that Patagonia could be every bit as cold as Alaska. He thought that anything South of the border had to be hot.

And this one is my favorite, I have to share it with you guys... haha

The first day in the US, I was walking to the store and I stopped at a light, one of the people walking with me... friend of a friend, said to me: “The green light means go, and red means stop”. I looked at her thinking... 'Are you for real?'

Martin... it is embarrassing to see how far the US has fallen in such a short time. “College educated” just does not mean what it used to mean here. From what I see, many recent college graduates have a marginal high school education. The US worker is being “trained” to be a good worker bee, but not to think. Religion plays a big role in marketing ideology over science, beliefs over facts. It is so much easier to control people when they cannot think.

    Uh, no, she wasn't

    13 rylang23,

Just look at the budget cuts on education alone, what kind of “superpower” does that? A Third-grader from Argentina knows more about Geography than a Twelve-grader from the US, personal experience.

    14 briton,

Then the Americans obviously want their kids to be complete idiots. You haven't got a clue of what you're talking about.

once in denial always in denial,

    18 briton,

And yet, you said nothing. You just said I called you an idiot, which you are.
You know nothing about Argentine or US education, I went to school in both countries.

All you can do is make sarcastic remarks, but in the end you still know nothing.

    more than you ever will.
you cannot be Argentinean [why] because you denounce every comment even when it praises Argentina, the only fool on here is a British mole who denies it, where you go insults follow you. you like your fellow bloggers just cannot handle or except the truth, Argentina would be better of without people like you and your fellow bloggers who do nothing but insult your own country, that’s the truth.
you have no self respect, and no respect for others,
that’s why no one has any respect for you . but of course the great martin with a British name does not care about nothing but himself, and insulting me and my fellow bloggers just shows the difference between us, ,,and you still lost the bloody Falklands and you will never get them back. insult insult insults that’s all you can do . bla bla bla

Huh?? I cannot be Argentine?? lol

“Martín Fierro is a 2,316 line epic poem by the Argentine writer José Hernández”
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Fierro

That's where my screen-name comes from.

“you like your fellow bloggers just cannot handle or except the truth” You mean accept, go back to school, or the closest approximation to it.

Just because I set you straight in your own childish language doesn't mean that I'm not Argentine. I'm from Rosario, Argentina. Where the flag was first raised and where Che Guevara was born.

Now you're just ranting nonsense, nothing you just said proves how you could possibly know more about Argentine and US education than me.

And the truth is that you still know nothing, try sticking to the context for once and you'll see what I mean.

you mean the context that you understand. except accept a little tiny typing error, ranting and raving , not me , I only give fair opinions,
you but criticise all that you do not understand, to be truthful for a man that claims to be educated to a high standard, ,is Argentinean and American educated, you are very bad at communicating, the American education must have been a bad influence on you.
their is nothing wrong with the language, you interpret it badly,
besides if you knew anything about the English language, you would know very well that all birth brits talk slang, and that is what creeps in,
you are taught the queens English , we speak the British dialect,
simple just like cricket, as for your flag, very good, ive no idea where my flag [the union jack was first raised]
but you probably do, being educated and the like .and guess what you spoke 13 lines without one insult, my britishness must be catching , tally ho
    mmmmmm

Brits talk slang, ok... so do Argentines and Americans. I don't get the point.
My English isn't good enough to communicate... ok

You know what... you must be right, I have no idea of what we're talking about now.

“you denounce every comment even when it praises Argentina” - I don't know where you got that from, I certainly don't denounce every comment.
