In other words - we didn't get anything out of the US visit and Argentina is in need of a bit of reassurance ... again!

There is no mention of the US anywhere in the article, there is speculation and there is fabrication.

Perhaps brazil is now in the position of being the lost little boy,
she wishes to grow, invite the best , and leave the rest behind.
as you say, not much from the USA, thus she turns back to Argentina,
perhaps Argentina should say in her defence, you are friends with the man who will not come here, when he visits , you have little time for us, perhaps it is not what Argentina can do for you, but what Brazil can do for us, and share, is this not what friends do, perhaps Argentina does not need brazil if she will not share, Argentina is big enough and ugly enough to find her own way, address her own problems, and find her own investors , does Argentina really need to depend on brazil that much,
perhaps Argentina also can find her own friends and grow economically , industrially , drop the Falklands and be friends with the British [had to get that in]
yeh. the Brazilians have the Americans we can have the British to help.
and together we can go forth and grow , and Argentina can show the world she can be a democratic and friendly power always willing to help out friends and our new friendly independent neighbour the Falklands.
and brazil, we can still be the best of friends, [a very good piece of advice] or am I dreaming , I think she can do it.
    just my friendly opinion, mmm
[Britain probably the best friend in the world ?

“Brazil reiterates significance of Mercosur and strategic relation with Argentina”

Or, to put it another way, we don't have any idea where we're going and we need help. There you are, CFK. You are better than us. You don't need help, you are screwing your country up nicely without help. Of course, you don't know where you're going either, except to personal wealth, but that'll do. I could do with some personal wealth. Then it won't matter what happens to Brazil. As long as I've got several million.

Now Brasil has (yesterday) reversed the Ficha Limpa and allowed the many convicted criminally corrupt politicians to resume their place in the Brasilian Government and state administrations, displacing sworn-in uncorrupt politicians, we can resume 'business-as-usual' with Argentina, etc. and within each and every state of Brasil.

I am disgusted that the spoken will of the millions of people who pressured the government to refuse to accept those convicted of corruption should have their wishes for this FLEDGLING DEMOCRACY - supported by 100% Senate vote - set aside by the PT-loaded judicial committee that decided the FL could not be retrospective . . . .
How can you introduce a FL if you fail to recognise criminal corruption that happened in the past? Just ban people that might be criminally corrupt in the future????

This is the greatest reversal in Brasil's democratic process since the military coup - and some would argue (including me) that this is a much more fundimental reversal.

Hundreds of thousands of us worked SO HARD to legally remove corruption from government and to give Dilma/Serra a fighting chance to change Brasilian society.

The establishment prefers corrupt, personal acquisition - and bugger the will of the people.

    Fido,
    go to Avaaz.com.
the vote was 6:5 based on a technicality.
The details are all over the Brasilian press & TV.

I have reviewed the initial outcomes of the Obama visit to Brasil and can only say ”where's the meat''!
A lot of rhetoric, but we await the level of commitment on the ground that goes any way to match the solid input that China has put on the table.
At this rate the USA can kiss goodbye to its South American sphere of influence.
