An academic seminar “20 years of Mercosur” will be the main celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the South American trade block, unable to convene political figures from the four full member countries to commemorate the 26 March 1991 founding charter or Asuncion Treaty. Read full article

It is, perhaps, right that the aniversary of Mercosur remains politically uncelebrated -
recognising the progressively divergent economic imbalances in the member states, there is so much, 20 years on, that is undeveloped, under-developed or still-born.

Step forward - *please* - a great statesman; someone who can bring a new impetus to this great association (and I don´t mean Lulas or Chavezes) .
