Funny you ask, Americans have no idea what 'white' means.
I've had instances when someone will think I'm white, but doesn't know my name or where I'm from, as soon as I tell them they go... oh, wait a minute, so you're not white, you're Hispanic lol
You're correct Fido Dido, Hispanic is not a race. As Spaniard is not a race either but a nationality.
It does get complicated though. A Mexican descendant, or I should say ascendant from the Inca, Mayan or Aztec civilization (to name a few) may be called Hispanic because most Mexicans speak a Spanish dialect.
However, if you were to dig deep into someone whose appearance gives away an indigenous ascension you might discover that their race may be one of the there before mentioned (for example). So this individual may not actually be Hispanic, not technically.
So who's white and who isn't?
Well, we've all got eyes, don't we? F@cking use them. : P
@ Fido, you're right. They do the same with Asians, but not with Russians, they say that guy's an Asian if he is from China for example, but if the guy is from Russia, Moscow for example, they say he's white, they love to say they're Europeans lol, a part of Russia too is in Asia, there're Whites, Hispanics, Blacks and Asians (Russia not included even though at least a part of Russia would be Asia lol). They never call a black person AMERICAN but AFRO-AMERICAN American is only used for WHITES lol One thing is Race and a different thing is Ethnicity, which is about shared cultural and also religiious traits and a shared group history and not about biological traits as in Race. Anyway, they're all f*cked in their heads lol
